Happened to me last week, during trackday at Nordschleife !

No signs before, no noises, nothing. Neither after, except no 3rd gear !

Car is from june 2016, had 8500km, first owner. (that's about 5300miles).

Garanty confirmed yesterday, waiting for the gearbox now.

I hope they change it for a better stuff...

I was told they have a reinforced 3rd gear, for what it's worth... My car is back on the road again, 3 days from dropping it to getting it back with a new gearbox and track service isn't too bad.

Corvette owners just started a lawsuit against Chevy for cooling issues in the z06 on the track for a track advertised car. Might be something to think about for the transmission on this car... This is going to affect resale value and confidence once out of warranty.

my new GT3 will be PDK, but not in anyway due to this, its a well known and documented fault worldwide, and the dealer will fix it.

and in my experience, every car i've owned that had any warranty work done, 9 out of 10 times the dealer has "never seen / heard that particular issue before"

That was me - same as others 2-3rd shift and nothing there, no warning, no fanfare - drove home 160 mi with no issues - Porsche SA said OK drive it unless something else felt out of place.

April 2016 build - 4600 miles

Dealer sent info to Porsche on Monday to get approval for new trans - 3 days later and still waiting for a reply....

I hope this is not an indicator to be be prepared for a long drawn out process - wrong time of year to be without the car!

Man, sorry to read about everyone's 3rd gear failures. This is really an alarming amount of failures for cars built in 2016. There aren't many cars on the road, and 2016 accounts for only part of the production. The cars discussed on this small forum alone (and far from every GT4 owner posts on this board) already accounts for about 1% of the total production. The amount of failures on track is staggering, especially considering this is a GT car.

My car is a July 2015 build and has been fine. 13,000 miles but only about 4 track hours.

I was told headers or exhaust mods won't affect gear box claims - but I'm not totally convinced till it's done, I got headers on mine

I have 30+ track days on my GT4 and about 19,000 miles. My car is a June 2015 build.
