Two fatals this week on Skyline Rt-35 and LaHonda Rt-84 west of Alice's. BMW on Skyline and rented Ferrari on 84. May result in additional enforcement by local agencies. Drive Safely!

i know those roads very well on car and bicycle.
the locals know the roads and drive them but the smart one are not stupid fast. maybe 5-10 mph over speed limit. i get it. that's fine no prob. but i have seen ppl on 35 driving from 84 toward alpine at tripe digit speed. i see them airborne and if you land on wet patch (lots tree and morning dew), you will kiss trees, fall down enbankments, etc.... oh, and usually it's very very foggy up there in morning.

+1 I'm surprised this doesn't happen more frequently given the craziness I routinely see up there. Sad to hear but unfortunately the Darwin comment is spot on.

Been going on up there since before any of us discovered those roads and will be going on up there long after we're gone. Protect yourself. Nature will take care of the rest.
BTW, some of the most over the top driving I've seen up there has been by local Porsche groups. So glass houses and all that.

I drove 9 - 35 - 84 and back daily for 10 years in the 80s when my business was in San Carlos and my home was in Ben Lomand. I've driven that route again once in the GT4 and it scared the crap out of me. There is no way to drive those roads any where close to the speeds our cars are capable of and enjoy it AFAIC.

Very true. I've been on a few Porsche group drives on those roads and felt the speeds being driven were unsafe - at least for my driving skills. I prefer to go out myself or with one or two friends who don't have a death wish.

thx for heads up rick...
overall, i say: choose your cars, choose your friends, choose your roads, choose your weather, choose your time of day -- all thoughtfully/carefully
life lived well and with joy has risks, they just need to be intelligently managed
