Default Did Forgeline mess up?

I bought these Forgeline wheels months ago and had to send them back because all of the offsets were different. Now this is the second set, I mounted tires on them and I get this. What the heck is going on here?

This is a 245/35/19 on a 9x19 rim. This is the inside of the rim....

What does Forgeline say regarding that inside lip? You did talk to them first?

What is the actual measured width of your wheel?

Forgeline is closed until Tuesday. The inside measure, bead to bead is accurate, but this lip makes the offset wrong since you measure from the inside hub face to the outside edge of the rim.

I can't see how a lip like that is a good thing.

I'm on my third set of Forgelines and they've all had that extended inner lip design. May be exaggerated in your case because you're running a 245 tire on a 9" wheel. 255 is probably the sweet spot for a 9" wheel, but it differs from tire to tire. What tire are you using--what is the recommended wheel width based on the manufacturer specs or TireRack specs for a 245 tire?

Also, 245/35-19 may not be ideal. 255/35-19 - 295/30-19 or 245/40-19 - 285/35-19 seem to be the combos that are successful on the GT4.

Toyo R888's. Toyo lists the 9" width for the 245, and the stock rim is a 8.5 and holds the 245. I've heard people run everything from 245-265 up front so I think tuning the suspension to the tire package is key. I looked at rolling circumference and chose the 245/295 sizes based on that. Lots of people are running the stock rim sizes with track rubber (I think Mooty runs stock rim widths), but I wanted the option up front to run something bigger than a 245 if needed. Ideally, I'd like a 255.

Certainly a 255 or 265 would bulge out more and probably lessen the look of that inner lip, but that inner lip is very different that any wheel I've ever seen. I would think that lip would get in the way of a curb or any off track excursion on corner exit.

My Forgelines are 9" up front as well, but with 255/35-19 PSCup2s. Rear are 11" wide with 295/30-19 tires.

On my 991S, it was also Forgeline 19x9 up front with 255/35-19, but slightly different offset compared to that for GT4. Rear was also 19x11, but with 305/30-19 tires.

E90 M3 was 18x10 Forgelines all around with 275/35-18.

Does the extended inner lip make contact with any suspension components on your car?

Not exactly! Offset is usually measured taking the actual wheel width into consideration. Lip to mounting face is commonly referred to as backspacing.

Mooty, what tire sizes are you running then? You ever see the inner lip like that on a set of Forgelines?

I just checked my Forgeline GX3 9" front and the inside lip is the same as the one shown in the OP's photo. It does not create any issues.

Thanks. Can you shoot me some pics with those on the car? How much do they protrude outside the fender lip?

My 9" fronts with 245's were sticking about 3/16 proud of the outer fender lip and I am running -3.2 degrees camber. that just seems wrong. Stock 8,5 " rim with 245's is 3/16 in the other direction. Now, before I get the "that's a half in bigger rim so expect 1/4" difference each side" flame, I will tell you that the inner rim hub sits about 5/8" off the brake caliper face while the stock rim sits about 1/8 off the brake caliper face.

You are running 255's so I imagine you are outside the outer fender lip?
