Agree. Does seem like an odd choice for the OEM part. Also agree that an M6 stud would be helpful, though when I tried that, the insert got stuck to the stud and backed out entirely. There's enough residual goo in those threads that the stud might get stuck too.

Seems like a design flaw in the OEM part and/or Porsche didnt expect it would be removed or replaced.

Salter should be more clear that this will likely be an issue and include the solution in the instructions along with $1.50 M6 stud

In other words, the Salter Aero part is built better than the OEM uprights! For removing the OEM uprights, I would bring to local shops like Sharkwerks for them to remove, since they would have the proper tools if the insert let loose.

Tik and TM5, any photos of your car after the new uprights install?

A shop is not a bad idea, but you don't need much to do this properly - just some patience and the knowledge that these inserts can be a pain. If you use an M6 stud, you can get the insert back in flush or you can work it completely out of the stock upright. Depends on how stubborn the insert is. It does help to have a tap to clean the threads.

Don't have any fancy pics - just this one from right after the install.

Looks incredible.

Knowing the work you need to deal with the OEM uprights removal, would you have done it again?

I would - I didn't find it to be that bad. Just needed some added patience. Frankly, the adhesive removal took more overall effort!

I would as well - the frustrating part was not being aware that the inserts are a potential issue - being prepared and having the right tools would make it fairly easy next time.

My car is getting Dundon headers installed - will post pictures once i get it back later this week - very happy with the overall look and fit of the Salter risers.

I think the Salter risers look great. If I were not going to get a .2 GT3 I would get a pair. At this point; I just got an oil change on Friday and will not put another $$ in to my GT4 other than gas to enjoy her for one more season

Dear all,

I believe there is no group buy anymore. Does anyone have a good hint for getting the Salton Wing Risers at a more affordable price than $1500 MSRP? Any used or second hand could do.

Thanks in advance.

I just ordered the Ehresmann supports as I like the carbon look, will post pics when I get them. Might be a good alternative to the Salters if they do a group buy.

Default Wing risers on finally

Finally got the Salter Aero wing risers on this past weekend and can't even remember how it looked OEM. Rear end feels more planted too but it could just be a placebo . Wing is no longer blocking the rear view.
