Default The Holy Grail of GT4 Clear Bra and Paint Coatings Thread!

With every new car begins a new story, a path which beginning and ending all share one common trait. That trait runs deeply in the veins and fuels the passion all us true enthusiasts share. It's what makes us do what we do, what gets us up at the crack of dawn for that weekend drive or Saturday car show. It's what gave us that drive to pursue our dreams of owning a Porsche and ultimately lead our paths to cross along our journeys.

Its this same Passion that drives the work we do here at Adonis. We are grateful to be part of that chapter with each vehicle we touch. We become part of the cars story and part of the ownership experience with the unique opportunity to enhance that experience for the lifetime of the ownership.

There are SO MANY options now when looking for a shop or product to protect your pride and joy. Finding a shop that you can relate to, that will look at your car like its their own is paramount.

Over the last several months we have had the opportunity to work on well over a dozen GT4's. No two cars are identical and each presents its own challenges and opportunities. Over the next few weeks we will be documenting a few of the unique projects we have wrapped up recently in several series. These series will go over some of the details and challenges we face with each project. Hopefully this will help shed some light, answer questions and guide you in the right direction on your own journey.

First up is one of my favorite projects to date, code named "Project Sapphire Blue GT4". This owner had reached out to me well before the arrival of his vehicle. He was doing his part as an educated consumer by researching and calling local shops to find the best fit for him. We chatted, went over many options for his car and stayed in touch throughout the entire process up until the arrival of the GT4. His plan was to keep the car for a long time and didn't want to worry about potential damage while driving or parked at car shows. We decided a moderate full ClearGuard Nano body wrap, Modesta Nano Coating and CeraLuxe Nano Ceramic Window film were the best options for him.

As one GT silver GT4 left, another began.

Clear bra installations are an art, the final results come down to the skill, experience and expertise of the installer. Our goal for each panel is simple, optimal coverage (minimal to none exposed/naked paint) while providing the best appearance (hard to tell theres anything there).

Templates are made for each panel. Our moderate installation combines full custom and modified precuts. This is a very common option, we recommend full custom for those wanting the highest coverage possible.

Hand trimmed to wrap corners/edges. Many installers will leave the film stopping right before this leading edge. This leaves the entire edge vulnerable to damage and chipping overtime. In addition was/dirt would build up over time, no worries about either here!

Corners completely wrapped as well!

Mirrors are removed for a seamless installation, we hand trim around the door handles which allows us to butt the film right up to the edge, without having to take apart the entire door handle assembly. This helps reduce cost/time but results in a virtually invisible installation!

This edge is completely hidden when mirrors are re-installed. No one will ever see the detail that goes into trimming this but it still must look good!

Headlights are wrapped as well, de-lamination is a possibility but with proper installation techniques that possibility is greatly reduced!

Next up Modesta BC-04 is applied to all the exterior surfaces. Why coat film? Film is very porous by nature, so is modern automotive paintwork. The coating helps to prevent premature aging, staining and discoloration of the film. In addition it enhances reflections as well as making maintenance much easier!

That is so awesome. Over here in Germany, everybody stops right before the edges and leaves c 2mm of paint exposed. Not good enough for me, you can spot the edge plus grime will be collected there over time. So I save the money and will repaint a few years down

A slight exposed edge is only a problem with White, yellow and some times Silver. On darker colored cars you can not see any dirt

While I didn't rely on Tim for my clearbra (timing of delivery plus his move to a larger facility impacted that decision), I've talked to him and seen his work. He is top notch and a good dude. If you live in S. CA you're both blessed and cursed when it comes to PPF. Blessed because there are a metric crap ton of choices for PPF work. Cursed because many of the choices frankly suck. Tim is one of the good ones and should be on anyone's short list.

I always wondered why it is a bra and not a condom

I haven't met Tim yet ,however, we have spoken couple of times. I agree with your comments. he is very knowledgeable and attentive to details. He is very reachable and answers to all your question. I guess my car will be "project sapphire blue GT4 II"

Thank you for documenting every step of the way with my car Tim... The experience was extremely positive and look forward to you receiving your own GT4. Thus far I am extremely pleased with the work which seems to be a dying trend as of late... I did my homework and my research... It certainly paid off.

Job well done!

We're working on a Jet Black GT4, I install this film daily and still am blown away by the gloss and clarity!

A few more updates to come:
