Default GT4 - PEC Atlanta Delivery Summary

I just took delivery of my new GT4 at the PEC in Atlanta (bought from Porsche of Chattanooga - MSRP) and wanted to share some photos and a brief overview of the day. It was a great experience. Euro delivery is, of course, better (primarily because of the driving adventure afterwards) if you have the means but this is a good option for those unable to commit the time/money/planning to a few weeks in Europe.

General schedule (1 car delivered morning, 1 afternoon delivery):
9:00AM - Arrival and Tour of the PEC
9:30AM - Hand-over (light snacks available)
11:00AM - Track (in the closest equivalent to your car, but not your own car)
12:30PM - Lunch in Restaurant 356 (the 2nd delivery of the day starts here, this is the only overlap)

The delivery team will take photos of you during the hand-over and also they will position the car and take some shots for you while you are on track and eating lunch. When you leave for the day, you get a gift bag that contains the keys for your car (which has been moved up to the B1 basement garage level for easy departure), a gift, and a thumb drive with photos from the day.

You'll notice in the photos that I change out my amber side markers to the clear LED markers before I even get in the car for the first time. I can't take the credit for this move...I was inspired by an enthusiast somehow more crazy than I (@BealeAss) when he did this in Leipzig last week.

A few of my personal notes below on each aspect of the delivery day:

Tour: You'll see the Heritage Center for cars on display, sim lab, lobby, physical training area (you can even play with the reaction time module), the track from the terrace, etc...

Hand-over: The car is covered with a Porsche sheet and will be revealed to you by your instructor who accompanies you throughout the day (sans lunch). Photos taken during the reveal. Now is your chance to get to know the car and ask questions. The delivery instructor has some things they must go over about the car (like a dealer) but they will know from your paperwork which areas you have questions about or want additional attention. You'll also sign a board for 2016 deliveries and each year they will retire the board to the Heritage Center for display. Your car will also have your delivery serial number (I was #42 for Atlanta all-time) on a decal inside the windshield of the car. It's a good permanent location and a badge of honor.

Track: For the track portion, you'll be in a similar car to yours but not yours. For me, there is a PEC GT4 same color, same seats, same brakes, so it is a pretty close mirror to my own car but your mileage will probably vary. I would expect the same car and same transmission, but color and options not likely to match. You can ask the instructor to focus on certain parts of the track, it is totally up to you where you spend your 90min. For me, I requested to spend most of my time on the outer handling circuit since I will be tracking my GT4. After getting too fast for this course (it is confined and not so much like a track you would do a track day at 9/10ths) I asked to do a little wet skid pad action so that I could learn the balance of the car once it is loose. You can also choose to split the time up among your guests (I halved it with my wife).

Lunch: For the morning delivery, this is your last stop. The lunch was fantastic. I found the menu to be more expansive for lunch and the restaurant was quite full of life during lunch. You get a reserved table and a window view of the track as a delivery customer. Lunch is of course covered, but the voucher does have a limit so don't go too crazy. We were treated very well here and though many people are dressed up, we just wore shorts and t-shirts from our delivery. I have little shame...

After lunch, as I noted about, my GT4 was already parked on the upper underground parking level in an isolated, safe area awaiting my departure. You can opt to ship your car via an offsite partner, but I'm local so I just used up the last of my painter's tape rolls for some strategic protection and headed straight up to my clear bra installer (Derek at Atlanta Protective Films) to leave the car for a full clear wrap.

Next stop is the Tail of the Dragon pilgrimage my old high school buddies and I make every year. The clear wrap should be done before that adventure next weekend.

Feel free to ask any questions about PEC Delivery: Atlanta!

Thanks all! Very happy with this one. Don't think I could've done it any more perfectly. Still needs more power...

I absolutely stole the idea of doing the clear side markers at delivery from another forum user. I wish I was crazy enough to have come up with that on my own...

Look at that smile!

Congrats! Would love to see some of the clear bra install pics since I have a feeling you'll be documenting everything with this new car.

Thanks all! Definitely a **** eating grin all day...

I forgot to ask for the clear bra install photos, hopefully he will take a few for me by default. I do want to start a new journal for the car but it might be much slower this time around.

Did they do a clear bra install at the PEC? I asked when it was an option for delivery but I didn't do it because the dealer said they wouldn't let anyone onsite to do the install and they didn't have a contracted vendor yet.

Considering the PEC is in Atlanta wouldn't it be better to just let Jean-Pierre with Detailed Designs handle the Clearbra needs? They have tons of experience in that department and would be a better choice then whoever the PEC contracted.
