Its impossible to get a new one at MSRP, especially in California. They were actually going to ask for 20-30K over, but I was able to squeeze in a deal at 10K over.

Yup. I had the same experience. Dealers wanted 20-30k over in CA. I ended up paying $5k for an allocation from the east coast. Should arrive in about a month!

I also sold my E90 in anticipation for the GT4. Not sure if I am going to sell my S2000... I love that thing.

I just traded in my 15 z06 with Z07 package for a zero option GT4 @ MSRP. From acceleration stand point , obviously Z06 is significantly faster. However, I find the GT4 is much more enjoyable to drive on public roads. The most enjoyable part for me is that in the GT4, you can go through the gears more while driving on public roads. When I was driving the Z06, if you came close to redline in 2nd gear, you were already doing close to 100. The GT4 also feels more nimble and I feel more confident going around corners. There were many time when the Z06 scared the S@$t out of me coming out or corners...even with the cup 2 tires on.

Hope this helps.

Found the same when I got my NorCal allocation back in November. Sounds like prices are pretty stable.

Did you buy the Guards Red one in Atlanta a few months back - I saw that - thought about it for a day then went back and it was gone.

Want a no option car for conversion to track car.

I'm also coming from a C7 Z06 with the Z07 package. Was fun being the fastest around the track for a season, but that car had too many reliability issues and digital gremlins. I lost confidence in the platform on the track.

The GT4 may not be as fast, but it feels much more precise and visceral. I am really enjoying it so far.

I bought a black one. I literally had 5 minutes to decide if I wanted it.

My Z06 had all kinds of issues, in the past 15 months, it was in the shop for 90+ days, including almost two months for a/c issue. The funny thing is, the Porsche dealer still let me trade the z06 in while its still in the shop (checked this morning and still in the shop) getting the a/c fixed.

Yeah, I had an A/C issue as well. Blower failed while I was on a trip down to Thunderhill from Seattle. I had no climate control on the way there and back in 100+ degree weather. Not fun.

OP, I also had an E92 M3 for a number of years before getting the Z06. Pretty heavily modified for the track. I loved that car and miss it (that engine is really special) but if faced with your decision, I'd go for the GT4.

I really love how solid and well put together the GT4 feels. It is flawless in build quality.

jphughan quoted me above and I pretty much still feel that way; however, now, after 10 months and 12k miles I might add the following:

I was in the exact same situation in that I traded both my e92M3 and my Z06 for the GT4. I have not regretted selling my Z07 one single second. It was a POS - A FAST POS, but an unreliable, overheating POS.

I do regret getting rid of the e92. That engine was glorious and I miss the space for DD duties. If I had to do it over again I would have traded the Z06 and tried to keep the e92 for no other reason than I believe it was a special car.

I struggled adapting to the GT4 after coming off the Z07 on the track and was quite a bit slower. The combination of the fact that the GT4 rewards a different driving style, as well as the Z07 having taught me bad habits, caused quite a bit of initial frustration with the GT4.

I can now say that, after having dialed in the GT4 perfectly, and investing quite a bit in coaching, I am officially faster in my GT4 than I was in my Z07 at all the tracks I have gone to. I am sure a big part of it was me improving as a driver and I will probably be a bit faster in the Z07 if I would drive it again. But, my point being, I don't even miss the Z07's speed and power anymore. If you drive your GT4 well there will not be many street cars at any DE that will outrun you.

Most important of all, the GT4 is super reliable. You read the GT4 forum here and most of the discussion focuses on how to dial the car's alignment in to get that extra tenth of a second, what color is the fastest, how to fit a set of golf clubs in the car, or whether life without LWB's are even worth it. Now, go read the Z06 forum and pages and pages will be dedicated to overheating and reliability issues.

I was again reminded of it this weekend at cota when the Vette's were dropping like flies in the heat while the Porches just kept on dancing. I was so happy and relieved to be in the GT4 and no longer the 'Vette.

Anyway, just some more musings...
