Default Protecting GT4 Black Satin Wheels

I just received a Black GT4 with black Satin Wheels, has anyone experience any rock chips on the wheels? any recommendations to protect them? will ceramic coating protect the black wheels ?

I just fix whatever chips with a sharpie, you can't tell standing a few feet away

Besides a sharpie, not much you can do. I found those wheels, especially the rear ones, very easy to chip.

A combination of the paint and design with flat spokes I suppose. I already have a ton of chips after 6500 miles. More than my old Cayman S ever got at 62,000 miles but that had a clear coat and rounded off spokes.

A coating will help with shedding brake dust but won't provide any impact protection. At some point I will repaint them and maybe add a clear coat to change the look.

Plastiderp? Worked on your inlet screens, maybe on wheels? Probably not the best looking finish for wheels, but maybe. I'm not that familiar with the product, but it sounds like a good option for the inlet screens.

I don't protect no wheels.(double negation to sound gansta. LOL) I drive until the paint shears off and then paint them. I will however avoid curb rash, that's something I hate...

Mine are already scratched up from potholes or whatever. Sort of surprised me when I washed the car. Only 700 miles. But whatever. I bought this car to drive it not worry.

Sharpie has more shine depth than plastiderp

"Ceramic" coating will do nothing for future rock chips.

More durable in what sense? A coating a few molecules thick of snake oil isn't going to help you with absorbing any energy in a collision with a small rock. At most it will make the surface shine more with higher surface reflectivity and change the water contact angle. Let's not kid ourselves here.

Car will be two years old in a couple of weeks and 19,500 miles on the odo. No track time (I know I know)

Not pretty!

The rear wheels are the ones with all the chips.
