It's not just sound, often most of the performance gain from the headers comes from ditching the cats. Add to that headers w/ cats are more expensive than w/o the value equation (hp/$) of doing headers with cats is dramatically different than without.

Cats. No cats. Different strokes for different folks.

If the CEL issue can be resolved with catless that's my route. For the track having cats robs a bit of power and while HJS makes good ones, they're going to go bad sooner from the high exhaust gas temps than they would on a solely used street car.

John @BGB, if this GB comes to fruition, I'm in.

I dont want to come across as "that guy" but are you able to request dyno comparison charts from them as well (sports headers)? Their site just lists peak gains, not the overall curves in comparison to stock.

Thanks, appreciate that. I'm trying to isolate the sports headers, and then sports headers with tune. Can't find anything on that.

Interesting to note on stage 1 with both sports and race headers the 3600 dip is still present. I wonder what causes this.

I think with the OEM exhaust the race headers won't be bad at all for driving around town if the value is closed. But it'll be cool to let the engine roar a bit when the value is open.

You will all love the sound and power increase with any of the CG headers......and I agree, the sound from Race headers with the OEM PSE is awesome but maybe not for everyone if you don't want to deal with ECU flash or add-ons and/or inspection/dealer problems if that's your case......

Would one need a ecu reflash or have a cel issue with sport headers & the ipd?

maybe actually.. with the PIWI scan tool you can add the IPD without the ECU flash from what we are learning. The information is scattered and imprecise on this at the moment, with different feedback from BGB/Fabspeed/customer experience.

for sure, sport headers (with high flow cats) are an easy option if you're not tracking mostly.. amazing sound on road with no CEL. I have tried adding an exhaust and I realize the value of Porsche engineering with it's PSE.. it's "the perfect" compromise in terms of sound, function... sport headers and PSE is the way to go for mostly road use and some track.. maybe race headers and PSE for 50/50 use.. and race plus some kind of aftermarket exhaust if you want the entire midrange torque dip removed and you go to track without DB limits. No way headers of any kind + aftermarket exhaust would pass any kind of sound limits at a track... I just had this and it's racecar loud.. like.. fingers in ears levels of loud.

The PIWIS only calibrates the range of opening of the Throttle Body...it doesn't tell the ECU more info than that. You will get the CEL sooner or later......Anyway, in order to extract the most from the IPD/TB upgrade you do need some kind of ECU adjustment

Cargraphic Headers were our pick for the 981. We've worked with a lot of different exhaust manufacturers and the build quality of the Cargraphics are truly impressive.

Fitment has always been spot on. Little fuss when installing. Power gains were always as expected, if not better. Butt dyno is always pleased.

We have a set of the Cargraphic Race Headers in-stock here for the 981. If anyone is interested, you're always welcome to shoot us a PM! We have a great tuning solution for the various common host of upgrades individuals have been choosing also.

Great thread and nice to see so many people pleased with the product.
