Only the upper piece needs to be removed to do plug and coil maintenance, the lower piece does not prevent any access.

Good to know for others-either way it wasn't too expensive overall from Suncoast. In regards to only having to remove the top piece-you are correct. What I was saying is that I dont know if you will be able to get to it with the stock headers on or not (not sure as I dont have the stock ones installed).

I believe it will be no problem getting to the upper shield to remove when OEM exhaust manifolds are installed, but I have not tried.

For anyone who has had their headers coated with Swain White Lightning, have you had any chipping of the coating? I was cleaning my wheels today and noticed that it looks like the coating is coming off in some areas. Wondering if it's just excess coating coming off and if the coating is still functional even though it is thinner in those areas. You can also see some pilling of the coating which I've read is normal.

Mine are doing the same. I contacted Swain who reassured me that this is normal and just the surface layer. The thermal protection should be unchanged.

Those dingleberries can be easily scraped off with an old credit card or similar without hurting the surface. Swain is upfront by describing the White Lightning ceramic coating as not pretty and you shouldn't select it if you are after good looks. It is only designed to insulate, not look good. Too bad we can't get both qualities in a ceramic coating. The guy at Swain told me that on parts that get hot enough to glow red, their product *might* not be able to stay bonded, but otherwise is so tough you have to grind or file it to get it off.

I agree about the sound. Good description of very similar sound with Fabspeeds sounding a little better (higher frequency) toward redline.
I got multiple CELs on the Fabspeed. Better torque with the Cargraphic and no CELs so far. Cargraphic seems like much better quality.

Yes, looks like it flaked off in places due to high heat, I'm apparently not pushing mine hard enough.
Is that a picture of a catalyst equipped header?
As already mentioned, the nodules are normal and can be scraped off.

Mine are Cargraphic Sport headers, so they have cats. The little nodules have been there since the first few track days after getting the headers coated. The flaking is new. It's not the most visually appealing, but as long as the heat shielding function of the coating is still working, I'm fine with it.
