Can you confirm how many each of bolts # 12 and 13 you needed per the diagram above? Also did you buy both upper and lower shields per side, or just the lowers?

You need 4 of each..they are regular 10 mm.
Purchased both covers....you need 2 bolts per cover per side.

Yes.....is a bit tight but you can manage to work them in place. BTW...the shields are side specific.

They do help with Radiant heat, which is the type we are trying to avoid here.....not direct contact with the heat source.
A lot of race teams use them and I have used them in the past in race cars....for the cost it's a bit of extra safety as I think those headers are pretty close to the coils.

Thanks, I have used the gold foil for radiant heat in the past as well. @jmartpr thanks for the help-I placed my order with Suncoast for the parts yesterday!

Any ideas on why Porsche left the heat shields off on the GT4? There has to be some reason, right?

Total guess but I would bet there's just more heat next to the heads due to the 911's packaging. The 911 exhaust manifold comes basically straight out to the cat/turbos and there are side mufflers all right next to the engine. IOW, there's a lot more exhaust and heat packaged directly adjacent to the heads vs the mid-engine 981 where most of the exhaust is behind the transmission, well behind the heads.

Keep the Cayman slower than the 911 platform.....

Seriously...no idea. Maybe PAG thinks the shielding on the OEM 981 exhaust manifolds are enough

If you never intend to track your 981 car and you leave stock exhaust manifolds on, the heat shields are probably not necessary. Great question why they were not installed on the GT4 because the car was built for those who intend to track the car at least several times if not many. Even the OEM exhaust manifolds place the cats very close to the aft coil packs on both cylinder banks on 981 cars. Besides keeping radiant heat away from the coil packs, they shield heat from the valve covers themselves thereby reducing heat transferred into the engine oil that flows across the inside of the valve covers as it's thrown there by the rotating camshafts.

Hi team, I ordered the parts from Suncoast the other day and have installed them. With my setup (Cargraphic race headers), it was a straight forward install once I figured out how to get my big hands in there. With the stock header/cat-I am sure it will be considerably tighter to get in (probably why they are not on from the factory as you will need to remove them when servicing the coil packs/plugs). I would say that with race headers-I would definitely recommend installing these. They will drastically reduce the heat on the lower portion of the valve covers and most importantly the coils. Here is my parts list-I ordered the wrong bolts-learn from my error:
1 9A1-104-314-00 HEAT SHIELD 1 25.19
2 9A1-104-313-00 HEAT SHIELD 1 25.19
3 9A1-104-311-00 HEAT SHIELD 1 26.30
4 9A1-104-312-00 HEAT SHIELD 1 26.30
5 900-385-041-01 TORX SCREW 6X 4 0.54 2.16 (YOU NEED 8 OF THESE)
6 900-385-112-01 TORX SCREW 5X 4 2.40 9.60 (WRONG-DO NO ORDER)
