The guys blowing 3rd gears are just putting the stock LSD back in before taking the car in for warranty. Takes about an hour and since it will never be driven again, no need to bother with checking the backlash...

The 991 Cups run really hot. AJR stopped using Delvac in the Weathertech cars last year and went over to the Motul. Brought the gearbox temps down about 25 degree F. But those are sequential dog boxes with no synchros. Please report back on the shift quality in the Cayman.

I agree on the cold behavior. Works fine when up to temperature.

Three Wheelin'
This was a b!+ch to get but I got my very own pail of Shell Spirax ATE 75W-90 (aka Shell Transaxle).
Only need about 9 or 10 L for my 2 cars that need it. Let's see how it performs.
I'll have 10L left over if someone local wants to buy some off me. About 1/2 the price from the dealer. BYOC (bring your own container lol)

Update: The OE transmission oil fill story is now unraveled:
As of sometime 2016 to early 2017 there is a new trans.oil P/N: 000-043-305-48 (20l) or 000-043-305-49 (1l) (which works much better than the original fill, IMO). This is "Fuchs Titan Sintopoid 75W90", Fuchs p/n 80238400026 (20l), 80238400188 (1l) Viscosity @40C 108, @100C 15.3 [mm^2/s]. Can be had as Porsche branded also (of course).
For reference, the prior trans.oil P/N was: 000.043.204.19 (1l) or 000.043.204.20 (20l), noted as either Shell Transaxle / Shell Spirax 75W90, or Mobilube PTX 75W90, Viscosity @40C 77.6, @100C 14.5 [mm^2/s].
So, the new OE fill, which is also being used for the recall-replacements is a little heavier than the earlier, but not quite as viscous as the Mobil 1 Delvac 75W90 Viscosity @40C 120 @100C 15.9.
Hope that settles it.

Another update: I got the question for a reference that the later trans oil from Porsche is made by Fuchs. OK. Was going to give the reference, but for the life of me cannot find it now. I remember seeing this on a Fuchs cross reference list, but now the Fuchs site says "use manufacturer specific oil". So I am retracting the above post.

Sorry if this caused any confusion.
