PSE bypass - LOUD NOISES
#16
So it was daunting to read how many panels you have to take off to get to the engine cover, therefore I just wiggled the vacuum lines going to the actuator off of the proximal vacuum T (I didn't want to wrestle with those distal hose clamps at the actuator connection). I'll plug up the lines once the exhaust cools down
Now the exhaust sounds so lively at 2-4k rpms and I don't have to press that damn exhaust button. The car just screams of American FREEDOM unfettered from the strict European sound restrictions Best of all it is easily reversible. I take no responsibility if your car blows up after...

If you're ever in Manhattan or if I catch you at one of the meets you, I can give you a ride in my GT4 so you can tell me if you notice my GT4 also sounds slightly louder/more aggressive than stock in the lower RPMs. I'm pretty sure my valves open up much earlier than 3,500 RPMs due to my ECU flash.

This changes the tonal quality throughout the entire RPM range.
More rasp!

Not bad, it was originally designed for the 987 and therefore a solenoid bracket is in the wrong place and the wiring harness won't reach it, but I was able to tie wrap it to a hose so it doesn't flop around.
Also, don't be afraid to give the actuator's arm a tap with a hammer to make it mate with the swivel on the plenum.
Here a reference;

I would want to see a dyno full open vs stock before assuming there's no difference. My last car we dynoed with and without cats, car made more power above 4.5k rpm but lost a big chunk of torque between 3k and 4k rpm. Every car is different of course but I wouldn't brush off porsche engineering decisions as myth or old wives tales until there's some proof in dyno numbers.
