Default GT4 Track Package Clear Bra and Modesta Nano Coating

The GT4... What an exciting time to be a Porsche enthusiast! This car signifies one of the last generations of true naturally aspirated and enthusiast inspired performance. Having the privilege to own this car is a treat in and of itself, having the ability to take such a rare car on some of the most famous driving roads in the world is truly a once in a lifetime experience.

The owner of this GT4 did just that, his story is outlined in the latest issue of Windblown witness where you can live vicariously through his amazing trip!

Anyways, onto the reason for this post...

Chris, found us through RL after viewing a thread about different paint protection options available for his car. Like so many others he was unsure about the right direction to go, what type of coverage, what film choice, coating choice etc. etc. After a bit of discussion, going over goals and usage for the car we determined a package that was the best fit for him. On this vehicle we did our signature "Track Package" clear bra installation and a Modesta Nano Coating on the rest of the vehicle, on the wheels and on the clear bra pieces as well.

After just a couple thousand miles, you can see how the dirt/debris accumulates. Along with small pebbles and rocks from the road along the side rocker panels, leading edge of the wing and front bumper areas demonstrating the potential for damage here.

We began prepping the car for the film and Modesta application. This step is crucial in ensuring there are no defects or contaminants that could interfere with the application process.

With our chemical iron remover, you can see embedded contaminants being removed from the paint surfaces.

Prepped and ready for the clear bra application

There were a few areas needing machine polishing prior to application. This is common on many new vehicles as they are either prepped improperly at dealerships or various areas are overlooked at the factory (very common).

After the clear bra was installed we moved onto the Modesta coating. This coating provides a hard layer over the clear coat helping to resist staining, light scratching, UV damage and water spots. In addition the gloss and ease of maintenance it provides is superb!

The coating is applied in several different steps, the first being a polished on primer coating, then the glass layer, in this case BC-04 nano titanium coating is installed. We then use Infrared lamps to bake the coating onto the surface for up to 10 years of protection!

Here's the final result!

WOW! Great Job Tim, OK want to come out to AZ for my GT4?

1. Know of anyone that can perform this work in AZ?
2. Take me through the steps....

a. Wash
b. Iron X everywhere.. How Long on you keep on before rinsing?
c. Wet Clay bar
d. Polish/Paint Correction
E. Wax
F. Clear Bra installation
G. Modesta on top of the clear bra? Or does this go on before the clear bra? Seems like a waste to me to put it on the clear bra?

Thanks!

I'm in discussion with a client currently regarding a few of his cars in Scottsdale as well. Maybe we could work something out! We typically don't travel for our clear bra installations as this exponentially increases the variables that could potentially take away from the quality of the end product, which for me is the ONLY priority.

Happy to discuss options for bringing the car out here though! We have clients ship us cars from all over the country.

Modesta goes on top of the clear bra, this way it helps protect/enhance the performance of the clear bra itself.

Amazing writeup Tim, thanks for documenting this! To those thinking about getting some PPF done, here are my thoughts:

I had never had any PPF done on a car, but this is my first ever brand new car so I felt I should take the proper protection. I had asked a number of questions in some of the long threads here on RL and always left without a definitive solution. XPEL or Suntek? Coating or no? Full wrap or just front? Do this or not? Ahhhh! The one thing I kept hearing from the trusted sources was "buy the installer". Well, after speaking with Tim, everything else fell easily into place.

I never let anyone drive or wash my car, so I was really nervous just giving someone my keys. When I dropped off my unicorn, Tim was just finishing up on a dripping wet Lava Orange GT3RS...okay, good sign. When I picked up my car, there was another GT4 in the driveway. All in the family - proper.

The bra is just about invisible. Some say XPEL has added orange peel, but I swear the coated sections look 'smoother' than the naked ones. I haven't been able to make a track day yet, but I pass a few truck sites coming home from work and there is no need to cringe when I hear pebbles.

As for the Modesta, this was an unknown to me but Tim felt confident in its recommendation. After seeing the liquid mirror look in some videos and Tim saying "Its what I'd do to my car" that was all I needed to hear. The final product has yielded some interesting comments from friends:

My father's friend with an older wrap on his Lotus - "Yeah, the car looks fantastic now, but wait until you get the film on, that nice luster will be gone"

A friend who does detail work on the side - "Hey, I thought you said you were going to get the film installed? Let me know when you get it, because I want to see how it looks on the car."

Thanks to the Modesta, I've never had so much fun cleaning the car. Nothing sticks, everything slides off with ease (if only it would stop raining here in SoCal).

Tim carries himself like a professional that views this work as a passionate hobby rather than work and the results show in his work. All of my cars from here out will be getting this treatment. Highly recommended.

Where about in AZ? Click here for an installer list: XPEL AZ

Yes, coatings go on top of the clear bra. Do Not have a coating installed prior to clear bra installation. The coatings go on TOP of the film. At the minimum it can cause adhesion issues.

Morning Tim.

GT4 is awesome. Finally got through my modified break in period, got the oil changed last week and am not fully enjoying the car as the engineers designed it to be enjoyed.

It is an amazing car. I love it.

Glad to see your work getting the kudos it deserves.

Thank you for the list. I will look it up for sure. Now heres the question...I want to do a racing stripe. But it seems that after the Modesta treatment nothing sticks to the car....Hmmm? So clear Bra, Stripe and then Modesta?

Not familiar with coatings, but I'd ask your installer/detailer. Just ensure the Clear bra is applied before any coatings are installed
