Default GT4 Crash - Homestead

Saw this over on Facebook and thought i'd share.

Total dick move by the Vette for giving the point by and drag racing the GT4 into the corner. Common HPDE courtesy is to let off and allow the faster driver to pass.

Agreed on the lack of courtesy there, but it doesn't look like that caused the incident unless the GT4 driver didn't make an appropriate adjustment for taking that corner off-line, and even then I would say that's more a driver education/experience issue. Looks like he may have come in too hot and turned the wheel harder in order to avoid going off-track on the outside edge, which brought his tail around, but it's of course hard to tell for sure.

Wasn't the "Ideal" line but i will agree the lack of experience played a role in this unfortunate incident.

he just went in way too hot. got a bit unnerved by the late pass and thought he had to go faster to pass him. He must have trailbraked in too hard to slow down and it came around to the inside wall. should have recognized sooner rear was coming around and did everything to counter and at worst spin the other way or away from the wall

I mean... me I'd be most pissed the video was posted online. Not 100% sure but looks like license plate wasnt blocked either, but I am on my cellphone. And the whole drag racing thing into a corner... it is a problem but if it pushes you beyond what you can handle in a corner why doesnt the gt4 just brake sooner... he had the inside line anyways, or just back off. Egos are a real big issue at hpde...

I can already see I am going to miss my modded gtr during passing at the track.

Crashing sucks. Feel bad for the guy, regardless of whose fault it was.

The inside line is not the ideal line in that situation... particuarly at that speed!

That's unfortunate. I don't think the vette driver did anything wrong though. Looked like a clean point by.

Wasn't clean... the whole point of "Pointing by" is to allow the faster driver to pass in a safe manner. Simply let off for a sec or two and just let him pass.

The protocol with point buys is to let the car by .Let off the gas but dont use the brakes. The vette should have not accelerated it would have given the 4 more time to get the line.

Looks like a bad combination of lack of courtesy in the vette and driver skill in the 4. carl

Interestingly enough almost ever hpde I've been to, always complaints about vettes doing this. They drive with a chip on their shoulders? I personally haven't had this issue.

Doesn't look like the corvette did anything wrong other than post this video in the first place but it's inevitable that someone would get it on the internet eventually. He wasn't racing the gt4 to the turn tho as far as I see it and the gt4 could have waived off the pass. Shame it happened but Homesteads turn 10 deserves much respect and if you come in too hot and over correct its pretty much for sure you'll be saying hello to that same wall if you don't go off to the right and roll the car completely.
