Hi Rick, you mentioned the GS car was tuned with a Cobb accessport, do you find that the stock mapping leaves a lot on the table?
(there have been threads before on this, but since I think it's still early days, I'm trying to get multiple datapoints)

We are a COBB Pro Tuning shop. We are able to perform live tuning of the ECU using the Access Port and the PRO tuning Software.
My 20 years experience setting up Race engines from scratch using Motec/Haltech ECU's gives me the expertise to map and tune these motors giving MUCH thanks to COBB for developing the PRO tuning software and giving us the ACCESS..
As far as Factory tuning is concerned for street cars, Some improvements can be made, but not much. As headers and a Larger throttle body are added CUSTOM PRO tuning is absolutely needed and the gains are well worth the effort.
We have the Dyna Pack dyno in house and have tested various combinations of components with various results, BUT all the cars should get individually tuned and tested on the Dyno.
We have multiple stages of tune for the GT4 all the way up to the 4.0L with the Factory Power Kit X51 that is close to 500HP at the crank.

Rick, thanks for your contributions!
On a different topic - how is a 385HP GT4 on the same playing field with a 550HP GT350 in the same class? Are they carrying some serious ballast, or restricted?

For the ECU I've heard that 9 hp can be had and I've heard that on track the car is slower with aftermarket ECU tuning because timing is pulled. For the TB I've heard both that it makes power without tuning and that it doesn't make power without tuning. (I like the stock exhaust with cats that survive the track.)

I was there Saturday for a little while. Bad timing on my part caused me to miss most of the Continental Tire Series cars running on track, but I did get a good chance to do some exploring in the garages. Went on a garage tour with TGM which was excellent. Good guys and looking forward to their participation again this year. Took a few potato-phone shots of with Wilson Racing's #33 car (my household's favorite from last year):
A new dark horse for household favorite has emerged in the GMG car with the camo wrap:
...and the obligatory shot of a Ford GT on track:
I liked the look of the new Mercedes cars (my wife was partial to the Lexii). Was cool to see the McLarens out there, as well. ...so many cool cars! Shaping up to be a fun couple of series, I hope.
Lastly, swung by the BGB garage and saw John who was prepping for the afternoon session. Didn't talk much, but did make a quick (re)introduction. All in all, was a good time, although a little chilly. Looking forward to the 24.
