I believe that green may be 'light green' and not 'birch green' according to the owner.

Awesome colour all the same.

Default 'Light Green' is 'Birch Green' & 'Lichtgrün'...

Sandy:

Here is what the owner posted on PistonHeads himself:

That is what I copied & posted on this thread.

'Birch Green', a historic/vintage early 911 color, is color code 253.
The Germans call the color 'Lichtgrün', which translates to 'Light Green'.

Here are photos I took at 'Porsche Exclusive' Zuffenhausen of the sample
color:

***

But when the color was introduced in English markets in the early 1970's,
it was referred to as 'Birch Green' in Porsche marketing materials:

That is why we, the Porsche enthusiasts with some historical memory,
still refer to 'Lichtgrün', color code 253, as 'Birch Green'. Hope this
sheds some light on the subject.

I asked one of my German friends how he would translate lichtgrün to English. He said the most accurate and descriptive translation for us would be "illuminated green". Makes sense, especially after seeing the color in person.

I am guessing the U.K. lichtgrün pictured above was built about the same time as mine, due in San Diego on Tuesday. Haven't been this excited about something in a LONG time.

Sounds good, but no the interior I believe is the standard yellow which comes with any car specified with yellow stitching.

Thanks Eduardo for the comprehensive explanation. Where I was getting confused was he later posted this pic calling it light green :

Then someone else posted this one saying this was birch green, I wasn't sure if they were actually the same :

Are you saying these are both the same colour ??
I guess it could just be the lighting & different camera etc.

Signal yellow with black accents is the non-plus-ultra to my eyes. Amazing, congratulations on your selection.

Default Correct - 'Lichtgrün', 'Light Green' & 'Birch Green' are all the same color!

Sandy:

Yes, it's the same color. 'Lichtgrün', 'Light Green' (presently)
and 'Birch Green' are all the same - Porsche color code 253.

****

When I was in Germany last July (2015), I went out of my way to visit
the Bensberg Porsche dealership where that car you posted was for sale.
I wanted to see the color for myself in person one more time. A photo
of that car had been posted earlier last summer here on Rennlist on one
of my 'Custom Ordering/PTS' threads. I contacted the person in Germany
who posted the photo and he told me where the dealership was located.
Here are the photos I took of that car:

It was simply stunning!

***

This is not the first time I have seen ' 'Lichtgrün' in person. I saw &
photographed a 991 Cabriolet that 'Porsche Exclusive' had on display
at Zuffenhausen in 2013. I utilized the same camera as the one I
used in 2015 at Bensberg, yet the photos make the color look quite
dissimilar due to lighting, etc. That is why I tell everybody not to
trust photos to judge a PTS color...you need to see it in person with
your own eyes!

***

By the way, the person on PistonHeads that posted that photo of the
Bensberg 'Birch Green' 991 is none other that ISUK. He is due to
received a 'Lichtgrün' gt4 in early 2016. ISUK has had some of the
nicest PTS Porsches I have seen in England and has previously been
a poster here on Rennlist!

Cheers guys, I am toying with the idea of adding the PORSCHE decal to the side in black, maybe even the wing end plates in black as well?? Then again I may just leave it as it is for now.

Hello Eduardo. I still read Rennlist but only post here very occasionally. My Birch Green GT4 is due to complete production on the 12th of January according to the latest update on the Porsche system which is a week earlier than it was originally scheduled. I originally ordered my car in Peridot after having that colour on a 987 Cayman R and never growing tired of it. After some deliberation I felt that GT cars suit solid non metallic colours and would have picked Chartreuse but it was unavailable. I was then torn between opting for Signal Green or Birch Green and as my dealer did not have samples of either colour I ordered up some spray cans and painted a couple of speed shapes. I loved both colours but felt that Birch would have a more lasting appeal for me personally. I have restored a Dino 246 GT into it's original colour of Verde Germoglio which looks stunning and is on the same colour tone as Birch Green but a few shades darker and with a very slight hint more blue to it.

I've studied as many photo's of Birch as I can find and believe it is very light sensitive and difficult to capture in photo's. My spray out does not look as "acid" green as some photo's I've seen so I'm hoping it is more accurate.

Has anyone confirmed if the PTS window will reopen? My salesperson said they would try I just don't know what that means.

I was looking for an orange. Gulf or signal orange.

Thanks

Jeff
