Question Hill Hold not applicable to the GT4?

Hi everyone, I am having a "discussion" with Porsche on some features that show in the manual and my Monroney sticker. In particular, the Hill Hold with Auto Stop/Start... now the Auto Stop/Start is not that big a deal to me but the Hill Hold is since we are stuck with the electronic parking brake which cannot be used when operating the car. I happen to live in the bay area that have cities like San Francisco which could definitely use that kind of feature.

So my question, do any other GT4 owners have an operational Hill Hold? When I first turn on the ignition the HOLD in green comes up in the dash but when I test the Hill Hold it does not seem to work.

Thanks guys, I will be forwarding this thread to my service advisor to prove that other GT4's seem to have this option.

Funny thing about the light zmon, it does show when I first start my car up but the hold does not seem to work. On my 991 the light would come on when it was activated, wonder if this is a glitch in the GT4?

Works for me but no light (that I see). I did notice on slight inclines it does not always engage.

Does the HOLD light in green come on when you first turn on the car?

It works for me but only on extremely steep hills ~45 degrees. I never noticed it in nearly 2000 miles...well until I pulled into a steep parking garage and had to stop at a gate. At first I thought the car was broken as I was unaware it even had it.

Needless to say I don't see the need for it at all. Maybe I am just a little old school .

If it had been available at MSRP, it would have been sold long before anyone had time to take photos and add them to Autotrader.

Car definitely has hill hold, but no light indicating the feature. Like 9001, it comes on for me on steeper hills.

I actually stalled the car the first time on a steep hill despite the feature because the brake doesn't release that fast and you have to overcome that force to get the car moving. Feel pretty comfortable starting on steep hills and wasn't expecting that.

45 degrees? Are you sure about that?

"~" 45 degrees . The parking garage in question does have a surprisingly steep angle. I can pull out my phone and measure it next I get a chance .

As mentioned it never engaged on minor hills in over 2000+ miles. So needless to say I was surprised when it held the car as abruptly as it did.

Make sure to set it to US std instead of metric. Too many stories on line to convince someone, you know who , that 12cm = 12".

haha.

So, backing out of my driveway, maybe 10 degree slope or so engages the hill hold assist. It's a bit annoying, but hardly noticeable. I just hear the brake release a bit as I roll off in 1st gear.

Hill hold works fine on both GT4 and Cayman R. I don't recall seeing a light. I read another thread here re suggestions on how to move forward on hill hold, and releasing the clutch a bit slower than normal seems to keep things smooth.

It is unnecessary and very annoying in the Panamera GTS. Why on earth is it needed in an automatic transmission car? Makes no sense.

Quick Reply: Hill Hold not applicable to the GT4?
