Works on mine. Surprised me the first time it came on.

Been prior threads. The GT4 has Hill Hold as standard, but the "HOLD" light does not light to let you know it's engaged. I suppose that could be corrected with a software update. Personally, I'd like to know when it's active.

Life Lesson #3,648,291: I am not great at eye balling angles.

Here is the beast in question. Granted I live in Texas. This is steep for us .

Took random with my cellphone...no, I didn't calibrate it first =P.

Still a pretty steep angle.

Im almost convinced that the hill hold feature is only on when you have the car in a gear. If the car is in neutral then you can roll back. Put it in gear before letting off the brake pedal and the hold is in effect.

1000 San Francisco miles to prove it. Up and down Fell and Oak.

Yes - hill hold only applies while in gear.

I sit in neutral until I know the light is about to change. Then in gear with clutch depressed. I'm quite good at feeling the friction zone so the car won't roll back when I release the brake. Obviously this should be accomplished quickly because it's bad for the clutch to hold the car in one place.

I checked mine both in gear and neutral, didn't work either way. Porsche dealer confirmed its not working, waiting for a fix at this point. Also asking about why the Hold light doesn't come on when activated.

You've all gotten soft. Whatever happened to the days of learning manual when you dread being stopped along a steep hill with bumper to bumper traffic behind you. A mundane task of inching the car forward turns into a heart pounding experience.

I too experienced less than desirable results with hill hold on my first day of ownership. Was in crawling traffic on hill in Prague. Frankly, I was not quick enough to remove my foot off the brake and onto the accelerator and synch with clutch release before rolling back or stalling. My solution? I manually engaged the E brake. Again, was disappointed that it did not always allow me to accelerate thru it with auto disengage so I disengaged it manually too.

I have not been able to get auto disengage of the parking brake. Does anyone know the secret handshake?

With a manual handbrake, it becomes second nature quickly. It is this new fangled hill hold and Porsche's interpretation of how it should work that has a learning curve.

If it's the same as my 991, all it needs is a good jab of the gas pedal.

I find it much easier in reverse than in first. My SA tried to show me it in first when I first picked up the car and couldn't do it.

I've found the parking brake to disengage easily and reliably by just driving off naturally - in 1st or R, giving it light gas while engaging the clutch. I.e., drive off as if the brake is not engaged. Don't overthink the process.

However, I still dislike the electronic e-brake.

Yes, slipping the clutch alone won't cause the e-brake to release. You need to depress the accelerator very slightly. Also, your seatbelt needs to be buckled.
