OK guys, here is a frivolous quandary - vanity plates!
First off. I have never in my life ordered vanity plates. I think they are dumb. But given that that I won't be daily driving the GT4, and I love seeing vanity plates and shows and meets, I decided I could make an exception for the GT4.
So I originally though CAYRERA was a cool plate. It was available, so I ordered it. At the time I equated Carrera with the 911, and the GT4 has a 911 engine so it makes sense. Now I am not so sure the 911=Carrera is really true, or that everyone sees it that way anyway.
So a few weeks later, the news came out that Jeremy Clarksons legal team trademarked "Gear *****" and everyone thought that was going to be the name f the Amazon Top Gear replacement. Not to mention when I orginally thought about a vanity plate a Top Gear reference was my #1 priority. I just couldn't find a good one that was available other than SUMSAYY. So I checked and sure enough GEARNOB was available. So I ordered that too. Now of course it turns out that will not be the name of the show, but it is still a good GT4 plate, as it refers to the manual trans, and still is at least an obscure Top Gear reference at this point.
So then a week after that, after telling me wife about having to decide between the two plates she said "but I really liked SUMSAYY" (she loves Top Gear too). So what did I do. I ordered SUMSAYY as well.
So that's right. I have 3 vanity plates on order and can only keep one. CAYRERA arrived on Friday so now I have to decide to either pick it up and assign it to my car, or pass for one of the the other two.
You all know where this is headed.... what do the wise Porsche freaks from Rennlist think is the best plate for a GT4 out of the three?

I really like "gearnob" and "sumsayy." Meh on "cayrera."
I just ordered "11blad3" for my GT4. Basically a reference to the scalpel (#11 blade) used for precision and fine cutting. I am an ER doc hence the medical reference

In any case, I think the car would look better without vanity plates.

An example. On the freeway I drive every day I see the same cars quite often. The ones with vanity plates on my commute, bore me. Whatever it is, it can only be funny or original once. But I see them all the time so they just get old, and boring. Probably not only to me but to all the rest of the people who see the car frequently. And that will happen with a daily driver.
If the car is in the garage and covered 90% of the time, and only taken out on weekends for fun drives, or to a cars and coffee, or whatever. The majority of the people who see will be seeing it for the first time, and probably only once. They won't have time or occasion to grow tired of it.
I know it is true because I get a chuckle out of the plates I saw today at a cars and coffee. Cause they were all new to me.
It's the same thing with crazy paint jobs, wraps, and contrasting rims. I loved all that stuff at the cars and coffee thing. It works there. But if I saw that black M6 with lime green rims on the 405 going to work in the morning I would assume the driver was an idiot.
So it's vanity plates, a mirror silver wrap, and neon purple rims for me!
jk. just the plates.

Hmmm, not sure I can adequately explain it. But it is a fun car and will only be used for fun.

You wanna hear the real joke? My daily driver is an all electric Ford Focus. The plate the DMV issued me spells "ZAP" along with some unrelated numbers. Just the kind of stupid joke plate I would hate and would never get. Of course everyone thinks it is intentional. Some people even compliment me on the joke, which makes it 10 times worse.
