I took my car to the dealer for its appointment for the LiOn battery install,
and its 1000-mile oil-and-filter change. Get the call-back:

"Car's all ready. They sent us the wrong battery, it's too big. We need to contact Porsche."

Default !!No wonder they took this option off the table!!

So I picked up my car. The service agent showed me a page from a binder.
He said he couldn't give it to me but could let me read it. It is a document
from Porsche about the LiOn batteries, and the document says explicitly
that some people will opt for this battery for racing, but that it is not suitable
for daily driving as it hasn't enough cranking power, and that the owner
should swap out the standard battery and the LiOn battery for street or
race use. Furthermore the DME needs reprogramming/resetting to be
correct for the one being used.

My service agent claimed he would have to see what Porsche would do about
this, as I was understandably dismayed. He agreed that the logical thing
would be for Porsche to refund me the option cost (+tax I said), but that
he'd have to wait to hear what they said. He also said that if/when the LiOn
battery dies, Porsche would be charging $6000 for a replacement...

Ouch....although I guess this might explain why the lithium battery option was pulled. Bummer!

The dealer told me that Porshe doesn't have the batteries available, so I have to wait for mine. After this discussion, I'm thinking of trying to get my money back on it.

I called my dealer again to find out what they/Porsche was going to do about
my LiOn battery issues, especially the document saying that it is not suitable
for everyday use.
My service agent said:

"Joe, spoke w/ my service manager. This is something that is completely out of his hands. He recommends calling Porsche direct, @ 1-800-PORSCHE. I apologize I couldn't get you a better answer, but something out of our hands. "

This dealer is not even choosing to represent or contact Porsche for this.

I would call PNA and ask for a refund and go buy a Braille. It is interesting because when I told my Dealer I wanted to install my Lithium Battery he said he could not help because Porsche does not carry them any more. I said I am not talking about their Battery but the Braille I still have in the box at my house

I absolutely called that number and had to go to some trouble to
describe the problems ((2, the battery issue, and the battery charging
through the power sockets issue).
The phone guy was sympathetic in a phone-support way, but did seem
surprised the dealer service department had sent me to the phone...

I am told I should hear back in 1-3 business days...

Which Braille model would you recommend? I am interested in getting one for my Spyder.

I got a call back, same guy at PCNA, who again was unable to articulate my issues to me, but said he had already understood, when I reiterated them
to me. His only thrust was to get me to explain what the dealer/service
person had said, and what was the reason they referred me to PCNA.

I reiterated that I had the email from them, saying nothing
except 'it is out of our hands. Call 1-800-PORSCHE.

This guy then said "I will have to escalate this... Expect a call back in
2-3 business days"...

Get your money back, I would not try to get their product .... imagine what it's going to take to get a repair..... or the car even coded for it.

Oh, absolutely, when I can finally get to someone that understands
the problem, and hopefully has the power to make it happen. I want
my money back (option cost for the lithium battery including tax).

I also want a complete open explanation, if not a fix, for the no-battery-charging-through-the-power sockets issue. I've tried all the witchcraft suggestions
and none make a difference.

And my dealer's service (or higher) management sucks, that they washed
their hands of both issues, making me handle this myself via PCNA. The
desk-level guy was helpful, at least showing me the internal doc about the
LiOn problems, and he said it would be logical to get my money back, but
then was probably told to email me what he emailed me. "It's out of our
hands (both issues). Call PCNA"

^ Nice to hear it was resolved in the end, although I'm not sure that posting all of the details of an agreement after one has been reached but before you've actually signed the NDA they said they would want you to sign in exchange for said agreement is quite how things are supposed to work. I suppose you could argue that PCNA should have asked you to sign the NDA before even discussing the details of their offer with you if it were that important to them, but then people would probably gripe about being treated that way, which I imagine is why they do things this way instead. The whole point of an NDA is to prevent disclosure, not prevent it except if it's posted to the Internet within the small window of opportunity that their process gives you, in which case they're totally cool with it. The fact that you posted it to a site that's easily searchable via Google by the general public going forward (as opposed to a fleeting social media post briefly visible to a much smaller audience, for example) AND you may be using your real name as your forum handle makes it even worse IMHO.

If I were PCNA, I would consider your post a breach of a good faith understanding. If I were you, I would consider deleting or significantly editing your post, if only out of respect for the agreement and appreciation for their accommodation.
