No brainer for me to skip that option. $600.00 will get you 2 Deltran LI batteries that con be hooked up to do the job, maybe 8 pounds total? Braille that I use weighs 9 pounds. $200.00? I forget.
Either way a battery tender is needed. Braille can go a few days but not a full week without being tendered. Won't last overnight if the key is left in the ignition. They die for good after 2-3 complete discharges. Stock lead batteries go for weeks but sometimes get a BATTERY LOW warning on my GT3.

Isn't porsche charge-o-mat charger the same thing?

The led indicator then goes dark after a few minutes.

I plug the ctek charger in and it goes through the normal charging cycle ramping up to stage 5 (completion)in a few minutes. Then as it goes into stage 6 (maximisation) an audible click happens and the charger shuts off and battery led faces red and green.
So what you are saying is your CTEK Lithium XS Charger does not charge your Lithium battery. What battery do you have?

I'm getting my LiOn installed Tuesday. Has anyone found a good use for the
stock battery that came with the car?

I have the Porshe lithium battery as well. My Porshe trickle charger works for about 45 min each time I hook it up and then the green power light flashes. No idea why. I just picked up my car a few weeks ago, so I don't think it's an issue with the battery.

Are you guys sure you actually have the lithium battery installed? Someone else ticked that option but didn't get it. The car isn't delivered with it actually installed; it comes with a standard battery installed and the LiIon battery separately, and apparently the dealer hadn't remembered to deliver it in this case -- so unless you know for certain that yours was actually installed, you might be having trouble charging because you're trying to use a lithium charger on a standard battery.

Maybe I wasn't being clear. I was trying to charge up the lithium battery externally before installing it in the car.

I'm getting mine installed tomorrow. I am also riding the dealer on the
car-disconnects-power-sockets-after-5-minutes behavior because it's
so inconvenient and against what the manual says.

Why would you ride your dealer over this? They didn't write the manual and therefore can't be responsible for errors it contains, of which this forum has already found several others. They also don't write the software controlling the car either, so even if they wanted to, they couldn't just change this behavior for you. You'd be better off talking to PCNA, but I would bet they'd just apologize for the error in the manual and maybe fix it in a future revision.

Also, did that other thread I linked you to not shed any light on this? It seemed like it was a matter of just having the right charger to prevent the automatic shut-off from triggering, with some GT4s being more "cutoff-happy" than others based on production date, which is why some examples work with some chargers and others don't.

From my understanding if you connect the charger in the socket befor shutting off the car trhan it will not automatically shut-off but should stay on.

I have not tested this yet

Thanks, Jp, I would be wanting the dealer to represent me (and us) to PCNA
to get a solution for us. I have tried the 'plug-in-before-turn-off', and it didn't
work, using a porsche-branded charger that works for all my other cars...

I did tell the dealer that this is a known issue, and to ask 'upstream'.

Wow. Thanks for this. Dealer forgot to install mine as well. On my build sheet and window sticker. That explains why the charger wasn't working. Dealer said it was supposed to be in the trunk and they install it when they prep the car. I'm going to have them install it next week.
