You're right. Looking closer, I can see they are just black lugs on a black wheel. I hope it stays that way. Still hoping it'll be easy to swap the CL on the GT3 for lugs.

I'm praying for a real dry sump 9k redline motor (destroked GT3 motor), manual gearbox, and improved steering feel (at least as good as GT3). Might be too much to ask...

It needs to have broader rear hips. Looks good otherwise.

Please don't put a 4 cylinder in it. It will never sound good. If it must be hybrid use a small displacement 6...

With a manual and a $90k base price USA, this will cannibalize at least 50% of gt3 sales

Will be interesting experiment. Cayman is currently worst selling platform - curious to see what this could do...

You might be right...

... but it won't move the needle in such small volumes.

I think it will only cannibalize sales of a potential manual GT3, which seems unlikely anytime soon and a few others who are fence-sitters about gearbox.

I see an ideal place to stick those ~900 991 GT3 motors that need rebuilding...
Manual, that motor and the on-track warranty; I'd pay 120. One can dream...

This might be a close guess. I'm going for $85k based on

1) Cayman GTS pricing - needs to be above it
2) GT3 vs 991S/PDK/PK/PDCC was about $5k more

My guess is $88k, based on bogus price of $125k in the press that was likely a straight currency conversion from Euros. Rather than adding 32% for the conversion, we actually pay fewer dollars than Germans pay Euros, so $88k is rather close based on other models...

Do it do it ! -Andreas P. You have permission to raid the 'parts bin.' If fact make it a 'parts bin' exercise. No need to reinvent things... your margins will be better than the 918!

Question

After looking at the pics that have surfaced I tried seeing what size tires this mule has on it. Definitely 20" wheels but the rear tires .... can't make out if they are std 265s or if they went to 295s. That might give a hint of the power.

Anybody with better eyes, software, etc able to id those? My scale against the screen makes it almost look like the rears are 30 series which could imply 295s.

Wish list - A detuned 991 GT3 motor - Lets say a 3.6 liter with fast revving, 8000 redline( they will not let it encroach on the GT3). A manual transmission and under 3000 lbs. - 19 inchers too

If close they will price near the C2S.

This will be a car to appease the purists with the manual and would keep a lot of people happy. It would be a great track car but the GT3 will still be faster because of the PDK-S and the stronger motor. But tis car would be more pure and fun to drive.

Or just sell a slower, manual, less advanced , no RWS, no CL Cayman with a Gt3 motor.

All aboard.....
