Did not come with Bose (can't option it) but it does come with CD

My CDR Plus is pretty awful . At first I didn't care as the engine note is amazing , but on longer drives , premium sound like Burmester or HK would be nice.

Agreed.
It's the single worst feature of the 981.
I'm gonna have to get the tweeters re-done by Musicar in Portland, Oregon and have them install a new amp as well (Phase II) at some point.

I don’t see how you can listen to music in this car. It’s already deafeningly loud. I have to shout to hold a conversation. You have to be cracking it up to really ear piercing levels to actually listen to music above the tire and power train noise. Any high quality audio system is kind of pointless in this car. Maybe when stopped. But then you run down the battery... Yeah it really is pointless.

Mine sounds horrible. Big difference vs. the Bose in my other cars. It's a bit better if you are using a CD or ipod, but Bluetooth link seems to be worse sound quality.

Same here.

And even though there is more "clarity" in the sound coming from a CD, the sound is terribly unbalanced across the spectrum with an incredible SHRILL from the tweeters.
FM stations are a joke. The tuner is only acceptable for listening to AM sports talk. That's the only thing I currently use it for.
