Default Sell 981 gt4 and buy 718 ? worth it?

Hi 🙋🏻*♂️

Do you think that the new gt4 is so much better to to convert 981 to 718?

Thanks

IMO...right now with the info we have...No!
I'm top of the list at my dealer but will consider selling my 981 for the 718 after I get more info and maybe some test drives from journalists.
The thing that bothers me the most is the ratio of price increase vs what we are getting...

A 17.3% price increase for the same amount of torque, gear ratios and 29 more HP?

And no Clubsport Package available to U.S. customers?
Why go through all of that aero work if you cant also get the cage, harness, and extinguisher?

Bland colors and no PTS.
Heavier too.

No.
It's not even close.

It will be a fantastic car for those that couldn't grab a 981 GT4, and everyone should be able to get an allocation to spec as desired.

But for those of us with 981 GT4s, I don't see much reason to spend the extra coin.

It's actually 35hp more when using the same measuring standard (385 ps vs 420 ps - both around 6hp less when using BHP= brake horsepower). Porsche recently switched to using bhp from ps this year in US and can lead to inaccurate comparisons with former models.

For instance, Speedster has 510ps (but 503bhp)

I wouldn't trade up if you currently have one. I'm debating just scrapping the 718 Spyder for a .1 GT3 since they are the same price now

Just did the configurator and for me to up grade assuming I could get 85 for my current GT4 it will cost me 39,500 (assuming no ADM hahaha) to get the exact same build (including tax and Lic here in CA). It would cost me 45,000 more to get the build I want plus 15K for Euro Delivery, so NO I will not be upgrading.

I have a $113k MSRP that's fully dialed in with with Dundon headers, GT3 throttle body, plenum, tune, harness bar, salter aero wing supports. One thing that I'm wondering is if the Dundon headers, Salter Aero, and Harness bar if they'll be able to swap over?! Even if I part out my car, I bet with close to 10k miles by this Fall I could only get $93k. If I go with the same build as mine with the 718 GT4, it'll be $128k but maybe I'll pass on PCCB's and it's a $120k build. I'm looking at spending a minimum of $27k plus tax/registration, let's call it $40k...and that's with buying at MSRP. I'm really sour about spending the such a large delta to upgrade for a marginal improvement. At this point I'm likely going to keep my GT4, enjoy the heck out of it and look to buy a 991.1RS or 991.2 GT3 in a year.
