How to get more power out of the 3.8?
Hi Guys, just curious I know that the GT4 has the same engine as the 911 C2S but making slightly less power. How do I bump up the HP to the 420 that the C2S make? What is missing for the detuned?

Its pretty simple. A engine is just a glorified air-pump. Make it take in & then dispose of air more efficiently and you will produce more power.
A simple set of headers, cat upgrade or delete, muffler improvements / along with air intake (plenum & throttle body) and a canned tune to take advantage of the new found efficiency ~ and viola... Carrera power.
Fabspeed sells a complete kit for $8k or so or you can pick & chose your Dundon headers, IPD plenum & Cobb tune. Done & done.

Call Jamie are Dundon.
Intake runners, plenum, Gt3 throttle body
race headers and gt3 exhaust conversion
all that and you’ll be doing better than a Carrera S

I think we all want that extra 40 hp or so, and I agree it could use it, and yes, more air in and more air out. Unfortunately, it doesn't come as cheap on this car than it does on many others, which is why I am reluctant to go that route. Headers and a tune maybe, but IMO, going for a shorter final drive, although costly as well, might be the better choice. I always wonder why there aren't more guys doing the shorter final drive ratio from Autoquest. It's about $5k for parts, shipping gearbox and labor, and gives a 19% power increase (in theory) since it is geared 19% lower. So 458 hp.

Dear Davin, you appear to have missed the last 4 years of thousands (ten of thousands?) of posts and threads on this subject. Once you sit down, search this forum and read all the stuff over the years, used new model 718 GT4 cars will be available. That will will save you $000's.

Three Wheelin'
ship car to BGB just outside Daytona, FL
they are THE best in the cayman and GT4 business; Porsche learns from them. Tell john how many horses you want, write a check and go fast

I don't like the idea of a shorter final drive as it makes the car far less livable. Traction really suffers in low gears as does fuel economy and top speed. Sometimes you just want a little more oomph without transforming the car to even more single purposed than it is already.
