Default GT4 Strut Tower Failure Database

Starting a separate thread to document strut tower failures in our GT4s. I'll do my best to update the database as time goes on. I'll also work my way through the other strut failure thread to collect the data that has already been posted there. I'll only include failures that can be confirmed and data provided. I'll try not to include second hand reports where the damage can not be substantiated or additional data provided. I am also going to post in the GT3 forum and will keep a tally of GT3 failures lower in the spreadsheet.

Link to the database:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...it?usp=sharing

If you've had a failure, please provide the following info:

Username: If people would prefer to PM me their info., I can also keep usernames private. If not a Rennlist member, use initial and geographic location

Model: GT4 or GT3

Date of manufacture: Info can be found on data plate on the driver's door jamb, month/year. Can also get exact day/month/year from the certificate of authenticity if you have it.

Date of Failure

Mileage when failure occurred

Track Use (#Days)

Suspension Mods: Toe links, aftermarket springs, lowered, etc

Camber Settings

Wheels: Stock or aftermarket, 20 vs 19"

LHD or RHD

Side of Failure: Driver's side, passenger side, both

Mode of Failure: Hard braking, pothole, berm, etc

Repair cost/payer: Cost of repair and if it was covered by regular insurance, track policy, or paid out of pocket

If there are other suggestions about what information to document, I'm always happy to modify the database.

Best,
Alex

It's been a while since we've heard of any new strut towers failing. If any new information comes up, please post and I'll update the log.

This post should be retracted, it did't. False alarm.

As it happened on the street (pothole after rain on fresh pavement), insurance is covering it which will then submit a claim to the city. I should receive the car back in the next week or two pending alignment and ppf. I'm going through a Porsche collision center and they have done a wonderful job with the repair.
