Rumor of GT4 transmission recall
I can't verify this, but someone on the FB GT4 Group posted that his Porsche Center (in the UK) informed him about a full recall on all GT4 transmissions. If true, I would think there is a good chance we get it in the US.

No current recall on my GT4. You can go to two spots and look. https://recall.porsche.com/prod/pag/...f/VIN?ReadForm and https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls
If enough people post a complaint on the NHTSA that could initiate an investigation and ultimately a recall.

there is a service bulletin but I’ve seen nothing “official” regarding out of warranty failures.
I suspect they would cover it out of warranty and discussed with my service manager (who agreed in theory). This conversation was last summer. Have not seen an official announcement.
Please post if you received something official.

There are documented failures in cars with zero track miles.
There are cars like mine with many track miles and no failure.

Not convinced but could be an attempt to stop a drip drip of warranty claims and assume it would be funded by gearbox manufacturer.
Not convinced because some cars have had multiple failures so mass recall would not, based on experience, guarantee no more warranty claims unless they also limit cover to in-warranty cars.

They have since identified the cause and fixed the problem.
All new replacements should not have any more issues.
And yes, it seems to affect the 2016 build models.

86 total failures, with March, April, and May being the highest frequency months, like a bell curve.
April the highest, with approx. 14 failures.

All this just happened the other day, so may take a while for PCNA to catch up. Another person posted on FB from the Middle East and said he had also been contacted about the recall today (Monday 2/10 their time).

I'm sure there are. No rule without exceptions. But don't the majority happen to track cars?
Let me rephrase. Many of these lower miles cars that are now coming up for sale, haven't been pushed enough to make the transmission fail, thus I feel Porsche should either recall it, or offer a 10 year warranty like they did on the early 991 GT3 engines.
Thant makes 2 then. So maybe there is something to it after all. Thanks for sharing.
