How much "value" does a set of LWB add to resale?
We are shopping GT4's, and my wife thinks she needs the 18-way seats, due to lumbar support. There isn't anyone available to "test-drive" buckets with us right now: the guy locally that owns a GT4 is in Spain for a couple of months.
We had the 2-ways on her Boxster S and she hated them on longer drives. I personally like the LWB, and I figured a car that had them would be worth $2,000 more as a % of MSRP vs. one with 18-ways. With that said, I see that they are going for $12,000-$15,000 on the open market. If that is the case, then I don't want to overpay for a car without buckets. Thoughts? These things are tough to price out.

I don't think it adds to resale over what a similar spec'd car would be with the 18-ways (which would also be expensive to acquire separately). It might make the car sell a bit quicker. I personally did not want the buckets. That said I haven't looked at sales data recently. I'd certainly imagine you would recover most of the option cost though. Would imagine demand is a bit higher for buckets on GT4.

In my opinion, buckets transform the experience of any car they are installed in. If I was shopping again, I would skip over a non-bucket equipped car, and pay a premium for a bucket-equipped car.

Get the LWBs and buy your wife a lumbar pillow...

I don't understand this thread (like all previous other similar ones on this subject). 99% of the time the wife wins out. So why even ask?
P.S.
Find a GT3 with LWBs. They are the same.

I'm definitely in the 1%. I spec my car the way I want it and the wife gets what she wants. She spent about 20 minutes in my 10 GT3, never sat in my 15 GT3 and has never sat in my GT4.

The full bucket seats were a $4730 option on the GT4. The lightweight bucket seats were $4730 on the 991.1 GT3. Somehow the same exact full bucket seats were $5200 on the 991.2 GT3.
Worth every penny! And for me, the most comfortable of the factory offerings.

I'm going to disagree on the buckets -- I find them quite uncomfortable. I would actually pay less for a car with buckets than with the 2-way sofas.
Before deciding you have to have the buckets, try them out first. You might love them. Or, you might not. FWIW, my wife tried the buckets and absolutely hates them.
