BBS 19" CH-R Test Fit on GT4 - with Pics
 

There is no new information here, but I always like seeing pictures so I thought others might feel the same. I have a set of 19" BBS CH-R's that I use on my 2009 CS. I am thinking about getting a different set of tires for them and using them as my GT4 track rims, so I did a test fit last night. Everyone talks about how tight a fit a 19" wheel is, but I wanted to see for myself. The wheel weights are in the center of the rim, so they would obviously have to be moved. The specs on the wheels are as follows:

BBS CH-R:
Front: 19x8.5ET51
Rear:19x10ET38

It sure is a tight fit!

Wonder if they'd clear the spyder more easily.

So I have been doing research on other 19" wheels for the GT4, and it seems with almost any 19" people comment that you have to offset the wheel weights so the caliper doesn't knock them off. So do they all fit as tight as the pictures posted above?

I don't want to go out and purchase another set of 19" and not gain anything over these CH-R's.

Clearance is the same as the picture for 19" OZ leggera hlts.

Your best bet on 19" are Forgelines.....of course it comes with a price getting the offset and clearance correctly in 19". IMO the best bang for your buck are the OZs.

I have heard Forgelines have the most clearance, but I thought I saw a few posts where people with Forgelines also had to offset the wheel weights. If you look at my pic, the weights almost clear on my CH-R's, so do I gain much by switching to Forgelines, considering I already have the CH-R's?

You do gain some extra clearance....I have wheel weights on the inner and outer edge of the wheels and there's more clearance than in the photo you posted.
Mine are not on the car now or I would have taken a photo......

Do the Forgelines weigh significantly less than the CH's? If not, I would just move the weights...especially if they are just track wheels.

I don't know the weights but I 'm pretty sure they will be lighter....CHs are not known for being a light wheel. The GA1Rs in 19" are lighter than OEM20", which are pretty light for a 20".

CH's are known for being heavy. I am not looking for lower weight though, just looking to save some $'s on tires. I only do HPDE's. I need to cut out the cheeseburgers from my diet to lose weight!

I already have the CH's, so they cost me $0. Forgelines will cost me $4k+. I don't think I could ever make up $4k in the difference between 19" and 20" tire costs.

Do a search in this forum. You'll find a number of people ran wheels with little clearance (like yours), and ended up damaging the wheels and the calipers when junk got into the wheel barrels while on track, even in DEs. Yes, you can save money now and run your current wheels, but there's a pretty good chance that will end up costing you more money in the long run.

none of this makes sense but you will win the "sexy" look contest!
