Nice Things to Say About My Local Dealer
Last month my car began making a very loud clanking sound with each rotation of the wheel. After turning the car off, looking around to see if I noticed anything loose, and then trying to drive again I decided it was best to call roadside assistance and have it towed to the dealership. Long story short, the dealer couldn't find a problem (I believe something was stuck somewhere and worked its way out during transport) so they took the wheels off and "cleaned inside the calipers" to alleviate any concern and the charges were $335. Basically the car was in the shop so they created a few hours of labor to charge me for. They also charged me $25 for the loaner car and said it was to cover gasoline. I've rented cars and used loaner cars for years and the deal has always been to fill the tank back up so that's what I did to the tune of $40. Since no one told me about the charge I was rather irritated but at least they took it off.
At this point it was not about the money, clearly if you can afford a six figure car you can afford a few hundred dollars to service it - the point was they took advantage.
Well, I sent a rather firm but polite email to my service writer and at the end of the email told her I didn't care to receive a response or explanation. That was a month ago and today I emailed her to schedule an oil service and she told me it would be a comp.
I encourage any of you who feel you were mistreated or forgotten or whatever by your dealer to remain friendly, calm, and firm and follow up. 9/10 they're going to make it right and while this certainly made it right I believe it was above and beyond.
