Default Stuck in REVERSE GEAR

Car is stuck in reverse gear. Cannot put it back to neutral or move it out of reverse. Clutch works perfect and able to engage and disengage in and out of reverse. Thank god I was few blocks from home and drove it backwards back into the garage

What could be the cause? cable linkage disconnected?

Does the shift **** move easily forward-and-back? If so, I would suspect a broken cable or a broken shifter mechanism (inside the console).

If you can get the back end of the car up, have someone move the shifter while looking at the trans. You're looking to see if anything's moving while the shifter is moving. If you see something moving, it's probably a broken cable. If you don't see anything moving, then the problem is probably in the shifter.

Default gear stuck in reverse

The shift **** can be moved slightly forward/back and side/side but it is stuck in the reverse position and cannot be put back to neutral or other gears.

my mechanic will come over on Tues to jack up the car and inspect the cables as he thinks one of them came loose as my tranny was recently moved to install shorter final gear, lightweight flywheel, and new clutch. Fingers crossed that is it just the disconnected cable and will snap it back in

I got stuck in 2nd at track. Porsche replaced the coupling rod. 981-424-035-00. They said plastic shift linkeage connection rod came off due to lost spring connection in fitting.

Oh man, can't wait to see how the shorter final drive works out!

drove the car for an hr yesterday..it is noticeably MUCH quicker at acceleration with a lot more thrust especially between 1-4th. I'm sure the lightweight flywheel and clutch also helps

It’s not cable linkage. Any other ideas?

I will keep my mouth shut for now and give these guys some time to make things right before this all goes public if I find the results to be unsatisfactory.......

Oh man, sorry to hear that this isn't an easy fix. I figured it was just a shift linkage too....
