Porsche have a 718 Cayman with a GT3 stuffed into it, however it is a test mule and will not make it into production. Not to be confused as a possible future RS model.

Unfortunately we never got the S motor from the 991 nor the S Pdk.....

MB euromotors stuffed a Cup motor and sequential box in a 2012 Cayman R back in 2012. It fits. But not without major modification to the tub etc... Same applies to the 718 tub and DFI GT3 motor.

Sorry. Didn't read the whole thread.

So far, what's likely? GT3 engine? or 991.1S engine?

991.1 engine. 4.0L. Not sure on heads, cams, intake or throttle body

The GT4/GT4 CS uses the 991.1 S 3.8L engine, but with a smaller TB.

IMHO... when you factor in that the 718 GTS is just now delivering and it debuted online October 2017... I would expect the same for the GT4 Coupe and Spyder... this coming October online debut, with November Show Debut then deliveries to dealers this time next year! This helps with the GT4 CS debut as well for the next race season.

Please be more specific about whether you are talking about the CS or street car. Both have the same engine it seems and that has been reported since inception to be the S engine with a bit less advertised HP, either because they underreported and over delivered as most motorsport Porsche's do or some have suggested the cayman exhaust architecture is more restrictive. Do you have other info to the contrary?

Re the transmission the street car of course has the manual and the CS has a race tuned PDK. All the PDK motorsport cars fhave a pdk s which is programed for more track focused driving and each has a different program customized for that particular car as does the CS. So are you suggesting otherwise ?

I am an owner of an early GT4 and will never sell absent necessity as it is a great dual purpose car. GT3 's and RS's are weapons but single minded. The GT4 is unique in its duality IMO.

Thus ,I would like to know what I have and whether the info most of us have is inaccurate.

Thx

Cheers

991.1 S motor detuned via tb and untake manifold down to 385hp instead of 400hp. Pdk in GT4cs was not pdks but the pdk out of a base 981 with 7th gear locked out.

Deliveries to US dealers are "over" a year from now.
