The vents? Sorry I was't paying much attention to them when I was there. Seems the same but also different if that make sense.

Thank you so much Whoopsy. The only other thing I would like to get your opinion on... as it is believed the GT4 and Spyder will be the same spec this time, do you think it is possible the Spyder might have the GT4 designation as part of it's name or do you think it will just be labelled the "Spyder" again? I wonder if Porsche marketing or the GT division would even allow this due to political, history, or any number of other reasons even though they will be "twins."

I would be surprised if the Spyder gets a GT designation. But if it does, I guess the Speedster should as well...

4l 400 hp for Spyder, 420 for GT4.
I'm in this camp as well. Also, dreaming about an RS.

However they market them is up to the marketing department, Weissach just develop them.

I didn't dive into a lot fo details when I talked to the engineer that develop the GT4/Spyder, he said the 2 cars are basically the same. Which make sense as the last GT4 and Spyder are basically the same too.

My mine was on the car that doesn't exist. Manual does't excite me too much.

For the record, since I'm not a huge fan of violence I want to try and curtail the talk of people "punching out" others!"

To get to 3.99L from 3.8L, those that build these 9A1 stroked motors (only 3 people worldwide of which I know) do it the same way the factory did it with the Cup cars and then the road cars. A 3.8L has a 102mm bore and a 77.5mm stroke. A 4.0L has a 102mm bore and an 81.5mm stroke.

Mr. Potato Head (3.8L) gets a different mustache, nose and glasses and it's plug n play. There is no need to punch out anything. His round potato body stays the same which is why I like to tell people that our 4.0L conversions are fully reversible. I'm not speaking to what is the currently anticipated power plant as much as i am clarifying that if someone were to make a 3.8L into a 4.0L, the only thing they would punch out is themselves for not doing it sooner!

And now back to our regularly scheduled program.

Since it doesn't exist it would be fun to speculate if it will follow suit like the differences between GT3 and GT3RS, if it will have a bunch of MR CF components instead or some other stuff other than engine and PDK.

What do most owners rev their 4.0 to? Or what do you usually have them rev to?

I like how renderings has become the new term for photoshop. Back in my day rendering was actually building a 3d model. *old man shaking fist*

Not sure if it's suggested already, but seeing as it's unlikely (to me) that they'll revive a variant of the old 3.8 from the GT4, could they simply change the GT3/RS's 4.0 to have a longer stroke and smaller bore? This would be consistent with achieving the much speculated lower redline.

Or just set the redline lower in the DME?
