718 GT4?

My only thought is that a detune of the 4.0L from 500hp to 420hp seems comical, albeit possible I guess. How is AP gonna respond to that one? "It was a packaging issue because it's mid engine?" LOL
He can just say, we wanted to make it less fast.

This one's easy. We needed to keep the costs down on the GT4 so we did away with some of the exotic internals and added a carburetor.

Or..... a lightweight + more aero GT4 RS replete with the racespec 4.0L (but still detuned) and call it a day. Win win... wishful thinking, again.
Let's not forget.... approx 10 months ago, PAG was hooning in the 'Ring.
This is older but who knows.... maybe they'll stay NA (center exhaust), or maybe they revamped now (lateral exhausts??) and went turbo.... we'll see!

Honestly, it would be crap. The rumour at the time was that it was gonna be built with 991R levels or rarity, which is complete garbage for all the people that want this car. I'm happier to see it as a regular GT4 and built in numbers that let the track rats into the game.

This was the rumour a few months back, wasn't it?

Tough to get even near-accurate leaks/news... they must have topshelf cleaning ladies.

So the mules look almost production ready. Do you guys think it will debut at Geneva in conjunction with GT3RS again? Or would be expect more "Ring footage first?

Not ready. It'll be later in the year based on the posts on here regarding the introduction of the GT4CS for the 2019 Season. While there are rumors of a RS version we'll have to wait what the PAG boards decides to fit into the established hierarchy. PAG is too busy with the current GT production to beat the new emissions requirement. IMHO the GT4 won't suffer from the necessary mods required to meet this new emission standard and therefore will fit into this hierarchy.

No gt4rs in the pipeline at the moment.
I agree that its strange that the “spy photographers” haven’t mentioned anything about the sound of the gt4 mules...... And coincidently no videos...... My reply today from photographer at location for winter testing.
- I was to busy taking pictures so forgot to listen to the engine..............
I guess we have to wait and see or listen.

How much power can you get out of a 2.5T and still have good street drivability?
The power goal is 400-420hp, and the turbo in the S is already pushing 19 psi which is pretty high for pump gas. I'd imagine there has to be a little lag from using a larger turbo to meet that power goal, which would detract from the car. The Audi RS3 is 2.5 with a 400 hp 5 cylinder, so it can be done, but some reviewers have stated it has lag.
I don't think you can guess anything from the exhaust tips either - the wider tips are the "sport" exhaust on the 911, so I'm guessing wider tips is just the sport exhaust?
For this reason, I'm guessing NA engine for the 718 GT4.

This. Was saying the exact same thing to some friends the other day. Porsche used the GT4 to test the market for a manual box, and then the 911R and 991.2 GT3 both came with manual after it was a success.
Porsche GT will most likely test the GT4 .2 with a turbo engine (don't know which one) and gauge market reaction before creating a turbo GT3.

Perhaps Porsche will once again follow BGB/Teece's lead, and use an upgraded X51 3.8lt .....
