Another 6 cylinder variant of the Cayman and Boxster. Discussed here previously. Going pretty hard.

IMO....that's probably the 4-cyl turbo / PDK. Maybe it sounds a bit better at WOT with the new exhausts system

No way that is a 4 cyl. Sounds exactly the same as the gt4.

With other 718 variants getting a derivative of the 718 GT4/Spyder's engine and split exhaust layout (as per the above spy video), do you think that there will be a few GT4 clones out there if the rear spoiler, diffuser and side scoops are a bolt-on to the lower trim level 6 cylinder cars?

Looks that way. With PDK for the GT4 there will be lots of choice for the mid engine enthusiasts!

I was driving in Venice Beach to work on Friday in my Boxster GTS, a group of camouflaged Porsches passed me, a 992 Turbo convertible, 992 Targa, and a 718 Cayman 6. When I pulled up along side the Cayman 6, the German passenger complimented my car and I replied, "I love the sound of the N/A 4.0!" He glared and me, rolled his window up and wouldn't leave the light til I did. Its quite apparent when you see a Boxster GTS body but with the exhaust outlets like the GT4 and it had a definitive N/A sound.

Ohhhh Boy.....time to hide! I think he has been around under a new name......

Seriously, if they indeed do this the problem is how are they going to price it.
$10K below GT4? At this price level $10-8K is nothing when you get all the goodies of a GT car, most people will buy the GT4/Spyder, plus thinning out the whole 718 lineup.
Lower than that and you just torpedoed the GT4/Spyder...unless they detune the already detuned 4.0L engine or lower it to 3.8L?
This is the issue I have with the same GT4/Spyder engine on a lower spec (more economical) model.

Same GT4/Spyder with Touring Package option checked, a la GT3. Done.

That could be an option but then the car in the video can't be a GT4 touring......check the rear diffuser, brakes, wheels...they would keep all of those from the regular GT4/Spyder.

100% But you can take it as imitation is highest form of flattery

Seems this will be a watered down version of an already detuned 4.0 (given potential for it's full wing span)

Media is finally starting to realize these 6cylinder 718's testing are not Touring models. One outlet today stated a refreshed 4cylinder will remain as base and the Cayman/Boxster 6 will replace the GTS. But it is all speculation at the moment, time will tell.
