Here's something to keep everyone's hopes up.....Was reading that article (R&T) and it mentions this: "Plus, we've got a new Cayman GT4 and Boxster Spyder coming this year with a flat-six to keep things exciting, and eventually, we in the US will get the 718 T models. Achleitner's sad to be retiring because he won't be around when those launch. Without naming them specifically, he said they'll be pretty special." According to the official PAG press release on Achleitners he is supposed to be handing over to Walliser in Q1 2019....March is the last month of Q1 so we may still get the presentation (no launch) and teasers during this month.

We can always hope for an April release at New York. That's where the last Spyder debuted. I also think this years geneva was pretty damn good it's just Porsche that didn't bring anything at all interesting.

That's just confirmation that the 718 will be replaced in 2023 by an EV, old news. In hindsight, the 718 name change (and 982 internal vs 981.2) was camouflage so less informed people might think the 982 is as "current" as the 992

Only saving grace is that I got to interview the retiring Mr. 911, a lovely man with a great story.

I did get to see the Singer DLS up close and it's insane.
The Koenigsegg Jesko, to me, is the most exciting car ever seen the light. A bunch of Swedes in a hangar made this!!!! It's so purposeful, so ... Swedish! And Christian's wife is more elegant than any queen! And he named the car after his father Jesko! It makes all other hypercar attempts obsolete. It weighs 1400 kg, probably 1000 less than that preposterous Bugatti and it has the same power! It's beyond the imagination of any Porsche engineer. Ferrari and McLaren are mere toys in comparison... Lambo's look miserable and Pagani are for hairdressers.

I have read a few articles recently that suggest the GT4 will be a flat6, but turbo charged 3.0, like the 911. Thoughts?

This YouTube video of a 982 Cayman driving around Stuttgart at night shows a barely-camouflaged variant that may very well be a new GT4. If that's the case, then it would likely be powered by the same 3.0 liter turbo flat six seen in the new 911

If it looks like a 718 GT4 then it probably is a 718 GT4. Writer does however not give any proof for his guessing on it being a turbo 6 (hence not 4,0 NA). In fact, actual Porsche Motorsport people were recorded saying that they believed they could provide a little bit better throttle response with NA.

Could be but the Koenigsegg and the Aston lineup have been amazing. Not to mention the Carfection and MrJWW videos in 4K. Engineering pr0n on my OLED. Too bad I don't have a million bucks to plonk down on that Aston AMR-003. Honestly I am not even bothered if the 718 shows up or not. I am already looking at Mclaren 650S Spiders and Aston Martin V12 Vantage S.

Is it possible that Porsche strategically avoided debuting the car at Geneva for feat that it would be eclipsed by other high-profile debuts?

I'm hoping the Porsche closes out Geneva w/ a 718 GT4 teaser... physical debut in New York.
