And thanks for the info; that’s useful.
It´s hard to tell about the sound but in my opinion it was a bit restrained due to the new particle filter.

Unfortunately I have seen it too late, so I don´t have any pics.

my friend works at Porsche told me they already had internal briefing stating the engine is brand new and not from existing product line. It will come with a 4.0L with HP between 420 to 430. Redline was not confirmed.

So the one you saw had a redline marking at 8,000 rpms? That would be an extra 200 rpms over the 981.
If they are bumping the redline higher that means they have revised the engine (or new engine) to deliver more power up top....wont fall off as much as the 981.

While I agree the engine specification for the 981 GT4 is documented as 7,800 max RPM, the instrument cluster seems to indicate 7,600 as the start of the red zone if I read it correctly. I don't why this is but it might be useful to note when comparing with what the 718 indicates...

The dashboad had yellow contrast stitching, lower part was covered in Alcantara and the rev counter stated "Spyder" (redline at 8.000 rpm).

Do you believe these cars are being prepared for a Geneva reveal ?

8k red line with .2 liters more displacement could do 420hp.

Old 3.8 with power kit was making at least 425 hp. A detuned 4.0 based on old 3.8 can easily make 420. They are going to hamstring whatever they put in there in some sand bagging fashion. We will get better low end torque and better gear ratios. This should make it much faster than 981 GT4.

Not sure if he can backup (he appears to be some kind of historic car racer and owns a GT3 touring) what he writes, but I like what Mark Bauwens writes:

GEORG KACHER WRITING IN CAR IS WRONG!

Contary to what Georg Kacher writes in Car, the forthcoming GT4 roadcar available as a standard Comfort version, Clubsport and later RS will not feature the old 3.8 but rather the new 4.0ltr engine.

The GT4 Clubsport was released with the cheaper and proven 3.8ltr engine as race teams have experience of this reliable engine and running it for a season is relatively economical

All 2019 GT4 roadcars will have the GT3 4.0ltr. The Comfort and Clubsport versions will have the GT3 manual gearbox too and 450-460Bhp. The RS will have 470-480Bhp with the PDK.

In theory, a 981 3.8L GT4/Spyder engine stroked to 3.99L with stock intake and exhaust would make around 420HP but with a better torque curve. Technically it would be an engine that was brand new to the Porsche family and it wouldn't have to be choked down to be at desired power levels; it would produce around 420 HP according to my internal abacus.

I've read about people already building engines like this on the interwebs and as we all know, if it's printed on the interwebs it must be true.

Another opinion..and you know what they say about those right?
We are in the air right now regarding engines after the comments at the GT4 CS launch in Daytona. We will have to wait until Porsche decides to tease us like they did on the 981.
Don't get me started on the RS rumor....so 480 BHP....guess the GT3 wont be faster than the GT4 anymore.
Not to mention a GT4 basically the same price as a GT3. Porsche isn't the most profitable auto manufacturer by launching products without carefully planning them......
GT4 will always be the gateway drug into GT3 and GT3 RS.....they want you to stay hungry for more so you make the jump to the bigger brothers or upgrade to the next version.
Of course all this is also my opinion......
