Here we go again. My two cents... 99% of the folks saying the Club Sport won’t have the same engine as the regular GT4 don’t even own GT4s, let alone Porsches. ‘Enthusiasts’ here trolling it up.

Here’s a thought for ya’ll enthusiasts... I thought maybe the next GT4 would be a turbo, but once guys who race Club Sports started seeing them, I changed my mind. One guy saying something means a bit, but many guys who have seen the race car saying something has merit.

Ok.

The prototypes still sound near identical to 3.0 turbo motors to me, and nothing like the old NA 3.8 of the previous generation. Maybe they are NA 3.8 or 4L motors with a reduced redline (7.5k-ish it sounds to me), but with very restrictive exhaust and particulate filters to meet euro 5 sound and emission rules.

The only thing I’m confident about is that it’s not 4 cylinder, and probably a flat 6, given that it would have to rev to over 10k RPM to produce the exhaust note it produces with 4 cylinders.

Beyond that, we know essentially nothing. Whoopsy is not god.
We know three things for certian. The GT4 will not get the engine from the GT3, it will not get the rear suspension from the GT3 and it will not be turbo.

It's gonna be a 6 rotor rotary design with a CVT.

Ok, so the 992 will be revealed on 11/29 in LA. Or at least what's left to reveal.

Did I miss it, but has the GT4 been confirmed for LA or at a different show in 2019? Or is the release date as controversial as 3.8 vs 4.0?

No, nothing has been confirmed. Based on post 3930 though, one would guess that some sort of announcement would have to take place before the end of 2018.

Normally i sit on the bench and fire off popcorn emojis but i feel as if i should speak up and say something. Next up: "my sales guy said it's going to have a V8 and be AWD."

A close friend signed yesterday a "reservation" for a GT4 (option to buy one if it one day exists)...
PC is located in Germany...

Latest news are :

It will exist...
It will be a Flat6... nothing else is known or was said...
He is number 3 on the list...
It will be presented end of Jan to Feb 2019 and on the road earliest april...

They have for the moment more reservations for the 718 Spyder than for the GT4...

Like they would just launch it randomly a month before Geneva?

The car will get revealed online in February and shown live at Geneva for the first time in March.
It's what they did last time.

The difference this time though is the CS is supposed to get announced and delivered by January 2019. Seems a bit odd to deliver the race car before the road car it's based on. Too bad anyone that actually knows can't post about it. Time will tell obviously.

And remember this video about something different but at 10 seconds, yellow car on the right. Published a month before launch, subtle or what?

Sorry to say this but if you have found your way to this forum then you almost certainly know more about the car than your dealer. Exceptions excluded of course.

I am supposedly #1 on my local dealer's list and I don't know more than any other enthusiast here.

Surprised no one has commented on the Panorama article reference to the 718 Boxster will see a Spyder version getting the GT3’s four liter engine.
Page 22 of current issue. Street Talk section.

For unknown reasons I’m unable to upload photos. Took a screen shot of the page but unable to attach.
It states:

”The 718 Boxster will see a Spyder version with the 911 GT3’s 4 liter engine. The 718 Cayman will get a touring version with 2.0 liter turbocharged four cylinder and should be on sale in 2019. The Cayman will get a redesign, likely shared with the 718 Boxster, in 2020.”

I realize they are not talking about the Cayman GT4 - but I find it interesting that the Boxster Spyder would receive the 4 liter GT3 engine. Looking forward to OFFICIAL details. I’d assume if the info is in Panorama it carries more weight than a non-PCA magazine, but it’s still called “Street Talk” which I assume means unofficial.
