2022 for the GT4 after that. Assuming they are replaced every 3 years.
I highly doubt its going to be announced at the LA show, Geneva is the most probable which is in March.

I think it will be at the LA show along side of the GT4 Clubsport.

That's kind of like saying IMO as well that a car when not running but just parked should not draw attention to it!

Sounds like the conversation I had with my dealer and their main tech, it just goes to show how little Porsche shares in their dealer network. If you’re not on a race team or part of the VIP program your in the dark. Most of the guys that know sign NDA, only whoopsy is allowed to provide us riddles.

I'd disagree, the beauty of a car is what it looks like in sum, distracting elements detract from this.
Needed new glasses and considered Ray-Ban again, but the raised electroplated logos reminded me of the similarly garish 718 rear Porsche logo, so I instead went with Prada and its subtle branding.

Default Turbo 6?

All the videos I’ve seen online sound very similar to the 991.2 Carrera S/GTS and 992 Carrera S mules that have lapped the ring in the past few years. The GT4 sounds a touch louder, and a touch higher revving, but nowhere near as loud and high revving as a GT3 (991 or 992). Perhaps it’s just a slightly louder exhaust than the 911. I’ve also heard blow off valve sounds when lifting off the throttle coming into vends on all the 718 GT4/Spyder videos I’ve seen online. This makes me suspect we’re getting a 3L Turbo off the Carrera S or GTS.

At equal horsepower ratings, a turbo would be quicker on track in practice (due to the torque curve), and more tuneable with simple mods, but less responsive and less exciting in sound. I’m curious if they’ll have VTG turbos or not; the non-Turbo 911s don’t to the best of my knowledge.

I drove a 991.2 GTS last weekend. There is no way the two cars sound similar in the videos.

Then GT3 is actually using a 'detuned' 4.0L. Oh no....

I guess one could say the Cayman 3.8L is a seriously detuned version of the GT3 4.0L

I admittedly know nothing about it. In fact I am just coming over here from the BMW side (in the market for a used 981 GT4), but maybe that gives me some unbiased perspective. I just don't see why Porsche would put the GT3 engine in the Cayman. That is instant buzz kill for GT3 owners. They can't make it faster than the GT3 and I would boldly claim that there are more people who would like a mid-engine Cayman over a rear engine 911,IF THEY HAD THE SAME POWER PLANT, especially if the price is a lot less.

Dont worry. Porsche Will not be using the GT3 engine in the cayman.
The cayman also has a basic rear suspension compared to the 911 and less tire. So no buzz kill.

The sound from inside the car is very different from the sound from a distance outside the car (particularly on a windy noisy track with all sorts of tire squealing and engine noises in the background).

Compare these for example:

991.2
718 GT4

Quick Reply: 718 GT4?
