I don’t know many other modern Porsche’s that sound better than the GT4. I only get complaints from my exhaust by doing full throttle pulls by my buddies. The Dundons are a bit obnoxious at times haha

981 sounded fine by me when i got my car. A bit too quiet if anything. I wasnt really into it for the sound coming from an open exhaust 997GT3... but supposedly alot of 981 customers wanted something more.
The 718 GT4 is supposed to deliver on that.

This is a very technical presentation on the topic of particulate filter implementations: https://www.energy.gov/sites/prod/fi...12_bischof.pdf
Good info, sonorous. Thanks. As you pointed out, fixing the sound issue, if there is an issue, could be locale-dependent. I would say in states like California it'll be screwy! I expect to move back to California at some point. So, this is a concern to me. Let's see how things turn out.

If this info turns out to be accurate, validates my theory about sandbagging. You did mention this before; but, most of the prototypes sounded anything but. So, I'm guessing the best is yet to come! Even with stringent Euro 4 regs, couple of motorcycle models (RSV4 and R1) managed to retain the good sound, in stock form. So, there is a good chance that Porsche will pull off this coup! If they really thought 981 GT4/Spyder needed improvement, I'll take my hat off, bow and say, "let'er rip"! Of course, anything can be improved. So, let's go from good to great!

I basically don't give a flying rats *** what the new GT4 sounds like...it's usually just for others' outside or behind the car.

Just please make the announcement ASAP Porsche, so I can get my hands on the order specs......

Come to think of it, another option could be sport cats and headers. The particulate filter is an EU requirement so I would assume that for tough states like CA a functioning cat system would be sufficient to pass inspection. Sport cats could be the future "particulate filter delete".

I’m sure Porsche thinks the GT designation for the Boxters and Caymans is Gelded Thoroughbreds.

Does anyone know what the small vertical fins are on the underside of the recently pictured Nordschleife 718 GT4?

Probably similar to the 911R diffuser.

I just hope they have the memo on 3rd gear. Unsettling that 718s are showing up more and more with these failures.

I'm no hater, but that is exactly what I thought when I heard that car - turbo 4. Has anyone who watched that video thought that that car was NA?

That's why they'll have a PDK option.

Complaints??? Scratching my head over this (like others). 981 Spyder has probably the best sounding stock exhaust on any modern Porsche.

But what would be the point of sandbagging? It makes no sense. Who are they trying to throw off? Customers? The competition? Why?
