That would be a wise decision. I'm hoping they also chime in regarding the release date. It does not seem like it's going to be LA.

The engine I think is a done deal at this point. 3.8L tuned to put out 420 HP.

Question for members in the educated know, what is your best guess or thought on whether the next GT4 after the 718 will have a NA engine, or how likely it is?
A number of people certainly thought the 981 GT4 would be the last, but it wasn't. I am uncertain what will happen here.
Also, the next gen GT4 after the 718 I have to assume wouldn't come out for a couple or few years after the 992 GT3.
Also, does anyone even know the model number for the next platform after the 718? lol
I anticipate a 992.1 GT3 in 2021. I am not sure if porsche would carry over the 4.0L DFI from the 991.2 GT3.... to be honest, i anticipate turbos.
The 2021 992.1 cup car will most likely carry over the 4.0L DFI motor until the 992.2 Cup is released with a turbo motor.

I think the 2021 GT4 will be a turbo motor.

Has anyone else (whoopsy, tcsracing, BGB) heard 4 wheels steering rumors? That would be huge for me.

not on the race car.
i cant see it being on the street car. Cost would be a factor on a car designed to be less money then 911.

Interestingly it is an option on all 992s based on the soft media launch in SF recently reports

Agreed. I can't imagine it would ever end up on a Cayman. The Cayman rotates faster than a 911 because of the rear strut suspension and that same strut suspension is not the 5 link on the 911; the upper link on the 911 in the rear is where the RAS so it would first have to have a true 911 rear suspension to even start.

Just for general info, evo mag says the 992 carrera release is slated for the LA show. Initially 8 sp PDK and the tranny officially has space for an electric motor. both C2 and C4 will have same body width. Turbo and GT3 slated for release in 12 mo. and with wide body.
My take from this is that Porsche would not release GT4 and 992 at same event; but where does that leave the GT4? Also my take that the 992 GT3 will be a hybrid with motor in gearbox.

Some interesting developments on the 992 - moving over to piezo fuel injection allowing an increase in compression ratio of .5 - 5 percent increase in torque everywhere - could be a possibility??????

😀this coupled with x51 could deliver the same outcome as a bored 4 with x51.

RWS is PAG's trick to make a car with the engine in the " wrong " place feel as neutral as possible, while almost eliminating the 911 typical understeer and front lightness. Otherwise the system adds complexity and weight.
Before owning a Cayman I never knew how superb and neutral this chassis really feels. It certainly doesn't need RWS IMO,but PAG's engineers might think differently...
Some prefer the feel of the 911,I do too,but I must say I'm impressed how good the Cayman platform can be when given a proper engine and gearbox!
And just for the record,I am aware many manufacturers started using RWS in their cars! However,it is my personal opinion, most are using it for the low speed maneuverability, where the rear wheels turn in the opposite direction of those in the front. The system is also beneficial in masking extra weight,by giving the impression of nimbleness and improved steering response.

the hybrids will be in the 992 carrera line up at some point.
The 992 GT3 might not see hybrid technology given the increase in weight and thus will not be in 992 cup cars either.
Interesting if they are thinking about it however.

RWS is fine and dandy for street. But i have seen 991RS track ****** delete it.
Also not on Cup.
Will be great to see it as an option for carreras going foward however.

Body style change with .1 and engine with .2 and it feels like that pattern will continue. Talking about Carreras mind not quite same with GTs.
