tranny died
so as you guys might know i am selling my car... has not been selling so i took it out a week ago.
tink tink tink under load, no load it goes away a little. i jacked it up and put my hands on all the suspension bits and turned the wheels and no noise.
dealer just called and said tranny.
is this the noise that folks get when third gear goes? they think its something between second and third gear loose in there.
putting in a request with P for a new tranny.
car is an early car. delivered in 8/15.

It sounds like you've got pieces of the 3rd gear dog teeth rattling around in there. While it's a hassle, at least now when you sell it you can advertise it as repaired with the factory fix on the gearbox.

New tranny on the way from Porsche.
the thought of new gears is crossing my mind... would i have to have them send it off to put these in? for example the sharkwerks gears?

Intersport is about 100 mi from you. They can do the job. Ask for Tony the service manager. Just be prepared for pcna to say you have no further warranty once you do it.

OP, sorry to hear about your troubles...
To the general community, should this also be categorized as a "third gear failure" in the database? The failure mode symptoms are not typical as there was no catastrophic 3rd failure, just noises. Maybe it is just an outlier... If it was deemed a 3rd gear failure, I believe this would be the earliest car build reported, no?
