Everyone should just go out and try to blow up their third gear which will give you a free transmission removal and install by Porsche.. order your sharkwerks flywheel in meantime, then get the work done with the new auto quest pinion.

And while you’re at it get some sport headers on the beast
i was thinking about getting some of these.....

Yes I purchased these! Been on the car for 12 months. I installed them myself on my GT4 retaining the standard exhaust. No other mods. Better low end torque, more noise with no drone. Thought they were better made than cargraphic equivalent. Excellent construction particularly the main cylinder connection flange and excellent welding.

Car latter fitted with GT gears on 2, 3, 4, 5, and light weight flywheel. Now a great car.

Hope this helps.

Noddy, is this review of yours for the headers or the final drive gears? Sounds like the headers.

Anyone installed these gears? It would save me a ton of coin from upgrading to something else...the gearing drives me nuts on my GT4. The car is otherwise incredible, and the shifter is so good that I want to use it more!

I thought the thread was about the shorter final drive - that was what I meant above, when asking at least. There should be many more potential customers now that we know they didn't adress the long gearing in the 718GT4/Spyder...

I mean, AutoQuest should at least have a test vehicle for some reputable YT:er to try out? That could get the business going.

Sorry, someone changed the thread a few posts back so I reviewed the headers. I gave up on getting information and reviews on the Autoquest's crown wheel and pinion a year or so back and instead installed Guard Transmission gears to make a close ration gearbox (as should Porsche) giving OE 1st. lower 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th gears and leaving 6th OE.

Do you go to the track and have you noticed lap time improvements from the gearing?

As a new owner of a 981 GT4 (Since last Wednesday) I must say I was thinking that the long gearing might be an issue for me (probably the only one).
However after a week, I'm fine with the gearing. I drive on country roads early in the morning with nobody around and the gearing is just fine for someone with my abilities.
The car is fast enough, sounds glorious and the gearbox is a joy to use, whether you're wringing it out to redline, or short shifting.
Could the car be faster? Of course. Do I need it to be? Nope! At least not yet...
