Alignment necessary after transmission swap?
My car is at the dealer now awaiting its replacement transmission (the notorious 3rd gear dog ring failure). Does anyone know if the rear subframe has to be dropped to change out the transmission, potentially necessitating a rear wheel re-alignment when the work is complete?

this should be on the worklist already if the dealer is doing it.
I had the engine on my cayenne pulled and they have to drop the front subframe and an alignment is part of the service (thankfully under warranty!)

^^Thanks for the replies. I'll have to give them my track alignment specs so they don't set the rear back to stock alignment.

AFAIK the alignment will be a std one if done under warranty. Any other alignment will cost.

After transmission replacement and the dealer alignment, my alignment was was closer to my track oriented alignment than stock. I think it's less work for them to mark whatever it was when you brought the car in, and get it close to that after replacing the transmission, than to go all the way back to a stock alignment.
