I ran into one guy at Spring Mountain two weeks ago that had his fail. I know this was problematic with all the 981's. I assume its the same differential on the GT4. So maybe another weak link!(great) carl

One diff was replaced with an aftermarket one (yellow car, Las Vegas location?), the other diff is still in my car. Both broke on the first or second track day, and according to our race shop, if we replace the entire transmission under warranty, it will most likely break almost immediately.

Wondering if others have a now open diff and haven't checked for this potential issue?

The diff is another weak spot on the GT4 just like on the 997 GT3/RS. I got the Guard diff to solve that problem.

Puttered along in 4 Smokies GT events with maybe 6 track days and approaching 15,000 miles. Zero issues. Oct 2015 build.

well, on the 19th track day mine lost 3rd gear. very uneventful, just went 2nd > 3rd and it freely revved out...

apparently a 6-8 week wait on a replacement box
