I installed the Cantrell, BBI is similar with an X-Brace instead of a single diagonal. The Cantrell comes with instructions and templates that fit. Both require some carpet cutting. If you don't want a roll bar, Brey Krause has as neat solution just installed by a friend of mine in a 981 http://www.bkauto.com/R_1046_Shoulde...t_p/r-1046.htm

Depends on your application. I plan to do auto-x only once I get my GT4 and I find this to be (at least on paper) an ideal device

No cutting of existing trim and nice and tucked away but clearly not a roll safety item, just a place where to mount the harness.

Yup, hence this qualifying statement "Depends on your application."

I initially was going to go with a similar solution from rss but ended up going with the Brey Krause mounts instead. If you want a new in wrapper bar for super cheap let me know (http://www.rss.rpmware.com/rss/981-cayman-gt4-718-/-rss-harness-bars/950/32/i-2255295.aspx).

I ended up with a combo of bk mounts for the shoulder straps, Cantrell sub strap mounts, and a custom roll section from DeMan motorsports (kinda like the Cantrell bar but without the harness cross member for harness straps) so the install is clean kinda like the factory cs package.

Probably this or Cantrell are best, but many are very good, so it's hard to go wrong.

If I am not mistaken, the CMS one above results in the least destruction to any internal parts, most of which are easily replaceable anyway.

Plus you can also order extra pre-cut trim pieces.
Allows easy access to engine bay without removal.

Competition Motorsports also for me after exhausting research. No carpet cutting, seats retain full travel, harnesses are mounted at the correct height. Hard to find another option that achieves all of there goals. Also powder coat paint match looks amazing!
