Thumbs up Dynaudio tweeter upgrade

Just thought I would let you guys know I tried the tweeter upgrade the 991 guys were doing... Nick made a mount that works for the 981 and with the GT4 (in the USA at least) getting the CDR+ system with the amplifier it sounds pretty good. Was a pretty easy install as the 981 vents pop out rather easily compared to the 991.

Great to know! My biggest complaint using my GT4 as a commuter is the less than good sound system. My 991 has the Bose system with Burmester tweeter upgrade and it sounds acceptable.

This is something I was looking at long ago but decided to upgrade to most important speaker..the exhaust system!!!

Seriously, if a complete drop-in, no cutting upgrade for all speakers was available I would do it for sure.

Thanks for the plug David.

We haven't announced official support for the 981 platform, but there are definitely some kits out in the wild at this point. There are a few more orders on the current group buy and a few spots left right now. It doesn't say in the thread, but the 981 version is $649 shipped in the US. Check out the thread link in the opening post for more info. Here's a couple photos:

Coming from a 991GTS, i know the guys on the 991 boards pretty well and they are a very particular crowd. All those that have received and installed this mod are EXTREMELY happy.

So i went ahead and bit the bullet earlier today.

I'm not much of an AV guy, but i am super excited to get these installed!

I'm going to try putting a video together with a client's GT4 in the next few weeks, but not sure if the timing will work out. For now, I have some detailed instructions with a bunch of photos. Shoot me a quick email request and I'll send them over to anyone that wants to see them before ordering.

Nothing you need to know, really. As far as I'm aware, every GT4 imported to North America came with the "Sound Package Plus" system, and that's really the only qualifier here.

So, instead of mounting on the vent itself, they mount to the dash? And in OPs original photos, I assume the iddy biddy tweeter is the stock one. No wonder they sound better - these are HUGE compared to OEM. Improved lap times too?

EDIT: watched the video - looks very nice. I sent them an email asking for more info!
