GT4 RS in the works? Rumors of a 4.0...

True, and carbon fiber bits, fender vents, bubble roof, etc.
I was definitely generalizing; intended point being, the new GT3 is as close to a GT3RS with a manual that will happen... and closer than many may think, since the new GT3 supposedly laps the 'Ring around/under 7:20... right in ballpark with 991 GT3RS.
For all intents and purposes, you have the platform capability of the 991 GT3RS, with a manual tranny.

Thanks to RL all week I've been dreaming about a solid lifter 9k rpm 4L 500hp flat six and debating which of my organs I could sell to get one. Then I took the car out last night at 1am before the snow came and not once did I think to myself, man, I wish I had another 100hp. I'm sure it's different in other places but in the northeast there's just not that many opportunities to use all that power.
Screw the power mods, does anyone have a way to convert the electric steering to an old fashioned hydraulic set-up? I don't care if it costs 5-10hp

^GT4 is an amazing car. But I am going to jump back in to a GT3 because I traded my 991 GT3 for a GT4 because i wanted a Manual and was buying time hoping the .2 GT3 would come with the Manual. Is it worth the additional $60,000??? probably not if you just street drive like myself but figured what the heck. I would love to keep both because i still think the GT4 is going to go down in Porsche history as one of the greatest. Values on the GT4 will do just fine because of the $$$ gap

You guys are all lucky cars don't have feelings. All this back and forth didn't work for me with relationships

Perhaps a GT4 RS will be required to compete with the mid-engine Corvette and Ford GT. Detroit engineers are creating awesome photo-types. If it were"t for the 'bean counters," we would all have GT 40's.

Looks more and more likely that a 4.0 'GT4' is in the works. I don't think Porsche will call it an RS rather will use a new/different brand for the top road going 718/Cayman.

I still can't imagine anything other than a 4 cylinder in a "718". In a way the car under the tarp is stealing some thunder from the GT3. My theory is Porsche feels that they need to hype up whatever that car is. And a 4 cylinder GT car would probably need some extra hype...
Either way, what is the cleaning lady saying about announcement date for the tarp car?

Eh, doubtful. GT4RS would be 4.0. What the regular GT4 would get is up for debate, but doubtful it would be a 4.0.

P.S.
IIRC that someone also said that smoke signal would be posted regardless.

but joking aside, my advice would definitely be to chat with some connected people at the shows (this week's Werks Reunion by the way was full of higher up PCNA people just milling around acting friendly) and get your secondary, and tertiary confirmations for yourself, I'm serious. I'm by no means an insider.. i just talk to one on a regular basis for other reasons and porsche convo comes up, and I also enjoy the mild detective work of trying to figure out what's coming while attending shows and events... All i can say, is I don't post anything without distinguishing whether it's supposition on my part, or if I know it to be true, I make sure I note that. My credibility is important to me as I have many real friends on this forum, and I get no joy from making **** up. I just do my very best to try to get real info before I go blowing smoke all over the place.
This weekend we are taking some special machinery to the track, focus will be on running a gt4 clubsport vs a 918 spyder (as well as a few others).. some local ATL PCNA people may be present, one in particular... ill see if a smoke signal is warranted again.
