Posted this in the GT3 section, figured it could be relevant here. See last 10 seconds of video:

could be a Cayman as the wheel base and roof line appear to match a Cayman

For anyone who may not have seen it, there are a few people I personally trust in 991.2 3 threads saying that they have flat out been told the GT4 RS is coming with a 4.0. The 4.0 has room for more (or less) power in its current configuration and will be used in a few different P models. The GT4 RS sounds like it'll be highly exclusive... 918/R owners only and price premiums may laugh at what we saw with the 991.1 3 RS

As long as Porsche develops a 4.0L GT motor out there that fits the Cayman, I'll keep my current car and do a motor swap. The GT4 as checked all the boxes in the suspension, balance, and appearance departments. For me the only thing lacking for the GT4 to be a consummate car is a crazy motor. As ungodly expensive a motor swap would be, it would pale in comparison to actually buying an astronomically marked up GT4RS

I was thinking that the extra $60k-$70k it would cost to get into a GT3 could probably fund one serious engine swap into the GT4....

If you love your car and plan to keep if a very long time this is a good plan - really the 4.0 option offered now at BGB or DeMann is not a bad option or cost proposition - not a 9,000 RPM rev monster - but a proven set up that will give you the performance the car deserves! Add to that gear, LSD, lightweight flywheel and you have a very very special GT4.

interesting statements for RS badge - may applied to the GT4 RS iif it even comes to life
Don’t expect the next GT3 RS to adopt the 2018 GT3’s six-speed manual transmission option, though. Because of the RS’s singular focus as a track car, Preuninger said he doesn’t believe a stick shift is necessary for Porsche models bearing the RS badge. The brand’s quick-shifting PDK dual-clutch automatic transmission is the preferred tool for those looking to shave every millisecond from a lap time.

For RS models into the future... the PDK will very likely be the only option. Especially if/when GT cars ever go to turbo, because the PDK programming can keep up the boost profiles between shifts and minimize turbo lag. Porsche will have to go turbo next gen, if not even for the emissions... then for the power. 700 HP is the new 500 HP, in this realm. I love NA engines, but with the AMG GT-S, Mclaren 720S, Ferrrari 488, etc... it's just a matter of time.
Which in my mind, makes my GT4 with some aftermarket enhancements thrown at it, a very tantalizing proposition. But then again, I usually root for the underdog...

Your point is well taken, but just so we are all on the same page, the 991.2 GT3 increased the downforce of the 991.1 GT3 from about 110 pounds to 132 pounds at 124 mph (a 20% increase). The 991.1 RS has 337 pounds of downforce at 124 mph. It's in a different aerodynamic league here and that much downforce could be worth >1 sec on a 2 min track.

True, and carbon fiber bits, fender vents, bubble roof, etc.
I was definitely generalizing; intended point being, the new GT3 is as close to a GT3RS with a manual that will happen... and closer than many may think, since the new GT3 supposedly laps the 'Ring around/under 7:20... right in ballpark with 991 GT3RS.
For all intents and purposes, you have the platform capability of the 991 GT3RS, with a manual tranny.
